Lore wise, you can't use normal magic without a Gate to pass mana through. Subaru completely obliterated his beyond the point of no return in his fight with Garf. If he ever wishes to use magic again, his options are die and go back to before he destroyed his gate, find something artifical to take the place of his Gate, or contract with a spirit and use spirit magic like Julius does or how Emilia used to before Puck broke their contract, which is different from normal magic like what Roswaal, Rem, and Ram use.

As far as we know, there's only the witches of Sin, any other witch titles (frozen witch) arent officially witches. Also regarding "witch's daughter", we don't know the context behind it. There's 7 witches and one of em could be emilia's mom? Guess we shall see

2024-06-05 15:18:33 +0000 UTCCongrats on catching that Emilia did Subaru's pose at the end, Faroh. A lot of people surprisingly miss that detail. To clarify three things from Subaru's fight with Garfiel. Puck absorbs a crap ton of mana. When Subaru stabbed him with Frederica's crystal which is currently housing Puck, Puck absorbed most of Garf's mana which made him drop his transformation. Which further increased Garf's exhaustion and he already wasn't in top shape after chasing and fighting both Otto and Ram. So, Garf was running on near empty almost at the start of his fight with Subaru. This is how Subaru was able to go toe to toe with Garf and take his significantly weakened punch. The cracking that occured when Subaru cast Shamack was his Gate shattering completely. If you recall from the start of the season, Felix did tell Subaru he couldn't use his Gate for months due to how damaged it already was. He was saying thank you to his Gate for holding up for that one final spell before he lost it completely and became unable to ever use magic again. For the activation of Subaru's new Authority from the Sloth Witch Factor, Echidna's "tea" helped Subaru stabilize the Factor within himself earlier in the season. The Authority awakened at that specific moment because in the anime, Subaru took that one punch from Garf. In the novels, the pair had a full on brawl and just traded punches for a bit, but Subaru couldn't put Garf down. At this point he starts to feel Slothful. Like he didn't do enough to win despite all the above mentioned advantages he had built for himself leading into this fight. This intense feeling of sloth resonated with the Witch Factor and it birthed Subaru's Sloth Authority. While his version is similar to Petelgeuse's version, it is also quite different as Authorities spawn differently for each person. Other than that, Echidna's feelings for Emilia will be made clearer in coming episodes, so I won't comment further on them at this time.
