Yeah, I think a lot of people forget how amazing the Hashira are. I've seen many comments say that Tanjiro is Hashira level, but they are still separated by a mile in terms of skill and power. Honestly, Tanjiro would've died many times if he didn't have some from the Hashira. That isn't to discredit him though. He has a lot of potential and is still a very big contributor in combat.

Basically for Tanjiro to become a Hashira he’d need to fit some qualifications, either slaying 50 demons on his own. Or defeating a 12 Kizuki on his own. He hasn’t quite slain that many demons, but he’s almost taken down a 12 Kizuki himself, with Rui in season 1. But ultimately it was Giyu who killed him. With upper 4 he did behead the main body, but wouldn’t have gotten that far without Mitsuri holding off hatred. It really puts into perspective how much of a prodigy Muichiro is that despite only being 13, he took down an upper rank on his own. Which hadn’t happened in hundreds of years. He became a Hashira only 2 months after joining the demon slayers, which is insane.
