Also, it felt like your perspective of Akane and Kana’s relationship was just too “kumbaya.” No, Akane did not hate Kana. She hated what Kana was forcing herself to be. A fake Kana. Akane absolutely wanted to beat Kana. Kana at her best. If she could witness the Kana she loved so much AND surpass her, all would be right in the world for Akane. The battle between them was very real. I think Kana respects tf outta Akane for her skill, but she doesn’t have anything about Akane that she loves. Their connection was just unbalanced that way. One of them was inspired to change her life because of the other, but nothing more than professional rivalry for the other side. Kana envies Akane having Aqua and having skills to rival hers. Akane just wants Kana to do better. Those situations just spawn totally different feelings.
