He's like the antithesis or foil to Laios, he's obsessed with and fascinated by people rather than monsters, knows their weaknesses, a stark contrast to the lack of social skills and wealth of monster knowledge Laios has. Both are charismatic leaders, but they're polar opposites.

All our endearingly weird boy has on his mind is monsters and he's frequently been shown to be so in his own world as to be oblivious to other people's feelings and actions unless it connects to his special interest. Of course those who know him accepts him anyway because they see the genuinely good person he is deep down, but it's easy to see how some of his more extreme behaviour would make strangers doubt him.
