BTW, the ravens were present in pilot movie. In fact, the camera focuses raven when doctor aqua is dying and talking about reincarnating. It's STRONGLY hinted the creepy girl is one that reincarnated them, as she was watching them entire time and set everything into motion. It's also clear she is not ok with the revenge being dropped and why she's directly instigating it again. My take, at least, is she is not the god of death but actually the shrine god of entertainment, the one referenced earlier in previous episode. It's why she hears ruby's prayer at her shrine in this episode too. So what's her motivation. Well their father is killing off her worshippers (people of the entertainment industry) and gods are often very protective of their own flock. Aqua and ruby are her tools, her weapons and their father is her nemesis. Even gods have certain rules. They often can't just outright go and kill humans or directly mettle but enacting proxies is very fitting. It's used a lot in storytelling too. Also, I know you often associated ravens with death and that's in part true but I think the focus on the ravens should be that they are her eyes. they have always been her eyes and she'd been watching these two since even before they died.

Aqua just assumed it must have been an adult who had some amount of power in the entertainment industry. But if you go back to that flashback, the middle school aged boy has Aqua's hairstyle. In Japan, last year middle schoolers are 14-15, and Ai got pregnant at 15. And to add more uncomfortable math, Himikawa is about 4 years older than Aqua and Ruby.
