Oregairu S2 EP 2
Added 2024-10-21 11:00:09 +0000 UTCman this show sure has a way of getting into your heart and stabbing it. :) This episode was complicated and really showed a lot of intentions, I'll admit I was super harsh on Hayato, but I do believe he's the polar opposite of Hachi, even down to his design physically. He's very people pleasing, very hidden and not obvious about his intentions as he kind of like nudges people a certain way whilst maintaining a status quo, vs Hachi, brutally honest, but also in a manipulative way and always putting himself in front of the gun metaphorically. its hard. I hate how he hurts himself this way. I really do.

Which mind you is a really shitty thing to do, to go behind your friend back and plot this even if it is to "protrec" him.

2024-10-21 12:47:01 +0000 UTCHachiman very much is like Subaru from Re:Zero in a way. Both cherish the relationships they've created (...altho Hachiman lies to himself more, claiming that he has built nothing with them...) and would put others before themselves due to some past trauma that has made them view their self worth as meaning nothing to anyone. Subaru and Hachiman are nothing alike in how they present themselves tho lol. Subaru has a Hayato outer persona, the extroverted charmer who does so much to be liked and valued by everyone. He's greedy just like Hayato. But he has Hachiman's self image, lack of self worth and methods of sacrificing himself for the sake of others. Hachiman needs to change. Just like Subaru had to in Re:Zero Season 2, Hachiman needs to realize that his actions are hurting the people who care about him. He doesn't die over and over, but it still hurts to see someone you love self harming with the justification that its for the sake of others. He needs to open his eyes and see the love surrounding him, but of course he is blind to it because he will continue to rationalize it as something else to not be hurt again. So much healing, therapy and character development to be done for our boy Hachiman. Season 2 starting STRONG with two great episodes.
