I think is better to watch it after ep 11. The ending of this episode doesn't match that well.

2024-11-19 01:39:55 +0000 UTC8man's monologue goes back to the first few episodes with Yui. He was skeptical of their relationship because he assumed it was obligational for the accident. His reasoning for not accepting the wish and would rather be left "wanting" is because of this. If he wished for a friend for example, would their relationship be because of them both wanting to engage with each other? Or is the person being friends with Hachi just because of the wish? He doesn't' want friendship out of obligation, just like how he didn't want Yui's friendship if it was out of pitty from the accident. His wish wouldn't be from himself and his pursuit, it would all boil down to being from the wish.

Imagine getting girfriend or friend becouse you wished for it and it was given to you, do you think you could trust that person that was almost assigned to you? do you think that you could be always yourself around them? or even not feeling isoleted and alone becouse you were given somthink and you didn't earn it (he could think that he wasn't worthy of it). If you struggle and earn love or friednship of another person how much more rewarding it feels and assuring that you are wanted and you would certainly know that you can form deep conection, that why he talking about wanting love but not wanting to be given it. He saing here that he will work for it.
