btw, just to clear something up, although most of ayanokojis relationships come from him trying to manipulate people, there are 2 cases where that isnt true. the first is his study group, which he formed because he genuinely likes spending time with them, and the second is hiyori, the girl he met at the library who he reads with, that he just genuinely enjoys her company. of course, that doesnt mean he cant take advantage of these relationships in the future for his gain, but when he says stuff like not wanting any of the people in his study group to be expelled, he genuinely means it

Sakayanagi was the one who spread the rumor about Ichinose. The rumors Ayanokoji spread were about the other students (using the information he got from Kushida). He spread those rumors to force the school to have to step in to stop further rumor spreading, which helped to protect Ichinose. When he said he shattered Ichinose's heart he was referring to how he told her in private that he knew she shoplifted. He did that to give her a chance to confront the issue in private so that she could be more collected when she had to confront it in public.

2024-12-28 14:34:33 +0000 UTCSakayanagi and Ayanokoji's "relationship" with each other is what should ultimately drive the show... but the light novel is such a masterpiece with the different examinations and politics playing around each character and their backstory that I just want to see more of the school overall.
