For reference, this is how this scene ended in the Light Novel: "" Hirata: “Thank you…Thank you Ayanokoji Kun” He hung his head countless tears falling from his face. Men are troublesome, difficult creatures who can’t cry in front of others very easily. That’s why I also wanted a friendship where nobody was forced to hide their tears from one another. As for this, no more words needed to be said. All he needed was a friend by his side, somebody who would lend him an ear and hear out his frustrations. As long as he did..he could start walking forward once again. "" Ayanokouji is a pretty complicated and confusing character, but the anime unfortunately keeps him as one-dimensional as possible.
