And it’s even harder to reconcile when one side obviously has the corrupt leadership. Corrupt leadership is innocuous and people don’t tend to realise the poison that’s consuming the power of their country until it’s too late - the State Alchemists are kind of like the German soldiers in WWII. There were millions of them and just believing they all believed to the abhorrent Nazi creed is just the easy version to believe. It might be scant consolation, but I think it’s hopeful that even the most vengeful of people can see that you shouldn’t tar every enemy with the same brush. Because if you do, then there’s no space for innocence and when that happens, where do you stop? Scar *does* stop here. And that’s very important.
