2025-02-23 18:25:49 +0000 UTCA little bit of Re:Zero fandom history. When Tappei originally wrote the web novel chapters for Liliana, fans hated her backstory. The reason had less to do with Liliana and more to do with placement and pacing of her chapters. Everyone was super hyped for Sirius vs Priscilla only to have Liliana's backstory chapters be both slowly paced and right in the middle of the chapters about battle which were very fast paced. There was such an uproar, that when Tappei converted the web novel to the light novel version, this arc had the most changes out of every other arc he's written to date. Up to and including scrapping almost all of Liliana's backstory and condensing it down to "the essentials". Tappei tried his best to get people to like Liliana, but people just weren't having it. So, it's nice to see the anime interation, with actual singing and dancing, redeeming her character in the fandom. Even people that used to be long time Liliana haters were forced to give her another chance since this season started.
