The Emporer knows that Jinshi is his son...they are just saying that he is the brother because it would make the palace look stupid if the truth came out. Brother or son...he is still the Crown Prince. Unless Lihua or Gyokuyou have a boy

If next week is the development I think it is, I feel I should warn you in advance because I know how uncomfortable it will make you that thereβs a particularly vile bit of character background incoming. I wonβt say what because it might spoil some important things later but I remember the family tree scene with Concubine Lishu really grossed you out so I felt it best to prepare you for it.

2025-02-23 07:28:45 +0000 UTCI think it is fun to work it out yourself, so won't go into much detail, but might be worth reviewing any previous notes you have from season 1 to get a better idea of whether Jinshi is the brother or the son. To us the viewer, it's meant to be somewhat obvious by this point, but so much happens its easy to be confused. Doesn't help that different characters have differing levels of information and agendas and thus present different points of view. Also, Maomao has put together the secret at this point but basically is actively refusing to admit it.

The Mother Royal wanted it to be possible for more foreign blood to enter the Imperial bloodline, it wasnβt about ingratiating more of her family members specifically
