2025-05-07 15:11:46 +0000 UTCthe note that Maomao left behind has some interesting details: it was in two characters, the first character, "Shi" (祠), was not the same character as the "Shi" as Shisui (子), but the same pronunciation. That word on the note means shrine - possibly hinting the shrine with secret entrance. The second character was incomplete, with an upper part and an incomplete lower part. The upper part means "feather", which is the same second character with Seki-u, Haku-u and Koku-u (they mean "red feather", "white feather" and "black feather", respectively); but the note must refer to something else, since Chinese characters are pictograms, and there's something below the "feather" part. The maids were thinking if it could be either "tomorrow" (翌), or "jade" (翠) - the lower part shares many similarities. As a result, the note could point to many directions, but when reading the words together, Seki-u realized that the note should go by not the words' meaning, but the pronunciation - Shisui (子翠). As the only one in Jade Pavilion who met Shisui before, if not because Seki-u is there, they wouldn't be able to decipher the note at all.
