While we know Saitama rarely gets recognition for his deeds, unfairly. Its important to understand that the concept of Saitama is impossible for anyone that hasn't seen him in action to believe. He's a generic looking bald dude with a goofy outfit. The idea of him being capable of what he is, is difficult for people to believe. Which is why its often stated that other heroes weakened it first. Since they're S ranks. Also, its not really a spoiler since its such a minor detail. But we learn in the manga that the entire time, Genos has been praising Saitama throughout the association and meetings, yet they all just see it as part of his delusions.
