Something I realise re-watching this with you - one of the things that makes Skip & Loafer really great is that it is, among other things, a show about depression and trauma, but it doesn't announce itself as one right off the bat - it lets you fall for everyone's acts a bit first. Is Mika just a shallow, bitchy girl? No, she's someone misguidedly grasping onto whatever social footing she can get after years of bullying, trying to find the locus of control in her life. Is Sousuke well put together and confident? No, he's deeply depressed and alienated, but has learnt an outward act that he can socially rely on.
