KPOP Demon Hunters UNCUT

OH THIS IS HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT

Comments

A few fun facts: - The movie was animated in a 2-frame/animation style to give it a more comic book style, similar to Spiderverse, except for the Saja Boys. They were animated in a regular 1-frame/animation style in order to make their movements feel more unnatural. To symbolize Rumi's acceptance of her demon side around Jinu, during the song "Free" Rumi is animated in the same 1-frame/animation style as Jinu. - This movie borrows heavily from Korean mythology. The Saja Boys are based on Jeoseung Saja, the Korean grim reaper, and Gwi-ma is based on Yeomra Daewang, the Korean king of the underworld, and is actually a subversion of these characters. In Korean mythology Jeoseung Saja and Yeomra Daewang were not evil. The former guided the dead into the afterlife and the latter decided where they went from there. Both were morally neutral. - Huntrix's weapons aren't actually weapons. In the case of Rumi's sword and Zoey's daggers, both are actually not weapons, but traditional Korean ceremonial blades used to ward off evil spirits and demons. And, while Mira's staff did see widespread military use, it's secondary purpose was spiritual. Said to be able to channel devine powers in the hands of a shaman. - Since Zoey is not actually a native-born Korean and was, instead, an American who moved to Korea later in life, she still has a lot of American cultural quirks, such as the American stereotype of being loud and obnoxious, the fact that her favorite ramen flavor is hamburger, the fact that she raps with an American wrap style, as well as certain rules of Korean etiquette that she hasn't nailed down, such as when she hurts her back during the bowing scene. - During the scene with Celine and Rumi towards the end, Celine is visibly repulsed by Rumi. Through the entire scene, Celine's head is tilted to the left, trying to avoid looking at the left side of Rumi's face. And when trying to comfort her, Celine appears to be about to caress her cheek then stops just before touching her face. Leaving her hand hovering awkwardly over her face. - After their first encounter in the bathhouse, Jinu never looks at Rumi with his demon eyes, even when in his demon form. Possibly because he knew she hated demons. - Twice is referenced in the movie because they sing their own version of "Takedown" for the end credits. The bts recordings are them. - The Spotify versions of some of these songs are different. The Spotify version of "Your Idol" has an entire extra verse and chorus that don't appear in the movie.

I loved this reaction video. I was crying right there with you girl. This movie was so amazingly awesome, and was much needed in the hateful world we live in now. To have something uplifting like this came at just the right time. Thank God

i learned that the movie was supposed to last 3h but Netflix wanted it to be shorter (they probably didn't expect it to blow up) Also if the movie does well, the studio apparently has up to 9 projects in storage ! (My headcanon is that Rumi's new sword is Jinu's soul, that's how i cope lol)
