Major Changes

  1. Added the tavern

    • You can now rent a room to sleep safely (don't forget to lock the door).

    • Remember to return your room key. You can miss the deadline and receive a fine.

  2. Added the sleep need

    • If Rumi stays awake for too long, she will faint from exhaustion.

    • You can sleep at any time. -> doing so fast‑forwards time.

  3. Rat behavior overhaul

    • Rats can now steal food from the Rumi's inventory.

    • Stolen food is carried back to their nest.

    • Rats will defend their nest if the player gets too close.

  4. Added 2 debuffs: Rat-itch and Splinter

    • Rat bites can infect you with Rat-itch. Its lethal once the timer expires. (Currently just a timed debuff with no extra effects.)

    • Running barefoot on wooden surfaces may give you a splinter - also lethal after the timer runs out. Sandals protect you.

    • Added items to cure these debuffs: a needle and anti-itch medicine.

  5. Added a potion shop

    • Includes new items, such as an abortion thing and pregnancy protection.

  6. Added pepper powder

    • Works kinda like pepper spray. Stuns certain NPCs for 10 seconds when thrown at them.

    • Very rough implementation for now and may break NPC behavior - will be improved later.

  7. HUD/UI

    • Added fatigue and hunger bars, and reworked the health bar.

    • Added a day counter.

    • Added interaction choice menu (hold the interaction button if an object has multiple options).

    • Added new gameover screens.

    • Added on-screen damage effects and blur effects from debuffs.

    • Added item descriptions in the inventory (including warnings if using an item could kill Rumi).

  8. Reworked Health logic

    • Segments of the health bar can be temporarily "bitten off" by negative effects (currently hunger and poisoning). This doesn't reduce the max health cap. When the debuff is removed, health returns to the cap.

    • However, if debuff damage fills the entire health bar, Rumi dies.

    • Direct hits now damage the red bar directly (the lower it is, the more damage she takes). Damage over time effects affect max‑cap health.

    • No ways to restore max‑cap health yet.

  9. Added a hit reaction animation

  10. Added the ability to climb into barrel via the interaction menu.

Minor and Technical Changes

  1. Improved NPC movement - they should no longer hop in place when trying to climb a step.

  2. Fully reworked the perception system - now multithreaded. NPCs should no longer lose sight of the player when standing very close. optimized for large numbers of rats..

  3. Added dynamic NPC culling to reduce CPU load when NPCs are far away or off‑screen.

  4. Rebuilt all colliders in the building with staircases (NPCs previously could fall through the entire building to the first floor. The camera also behaved oddly and hit invisible walls). Added wooden/stone surface tags.

  5. Reworked doors - all now behave like prison door using a physical joint.

    • Added navmesh links so NPCs properly interact with doors when walking through, instead of triggering them only by proximity.

  6. Significantly improved the navigation graph. Removed unnecessary surfaces inside buildings and outside the map.

    • Slightly adjusted pathfinding logic - NPCs should now correctly navigate between global areas. This fixes rare cases like guards chasing the player toward the slime fields and having trouble returning.

Known Issues

  1. The prison may still be unstable. If something breaks in the prison on this version, please report it in the Discord bug‑report channel. Everything works on my end, but just in case - sorry in advance if a softlock happens.

You can sit down by pressing ctrl, and npcs will occasionally throw coins at you

This mouse is too vicious. Speaking of which, I was bitten to death by a mouse and a settlement screen appeared. At this point, can I only exit the game and open a new save to play?

My only issue so far is I didnt grab the cure for rat-itch and got arrested and died in jail cuz the jail time is so long lol
