This is where the books and show diverge a bit more , but a cool plot in the books around this time of northern sucession is that prior to robs death in the books he wrote a letter for one of the starks gaurds to deliver to Howland reed (Meera and Jojens father who were the 2 kids traveling with bran) assumingly naming Jon as his heir and making him a stark, in the books its still a mystery whether or not the letter was received by Howland reed , and that letter was written in the precense of all the major lords in the north who accepted Jon as basically a stark

Finding that balance has plagued every king , real life or fiction, cant be too kind or youll be a bad king and you cant be too strong or youll be known as cruel, i personally think stannis so far has shown the best mix, hes strong to where people have a healthy ammount of fear but he is also not cruel
