2025-10-15 20:06:54 +0000 UTCVery well put, but i think i liked that the spotlight was put on Brendan more than Lee this time. Its a nice change of pace considering we've mostly been seeing Lee and his pokemon sweeping teams. Brendan is certainly becoming more competent as a strategist, which was already a thing but more so in this chapter, putting him front and center
It's a little strange
2025-09-21 15:20:39 +0000 UTCLokoko is someone *cough*probably a very old ninetails*cough* that Lee reached out to online for advice on human/ninetails relations.

2025-09-20 13:28:53 +0000 UTCYou know, I think I'm not a fan of this chapter? Partially because we didn't see Lee geeking out over any kind of pokemon science (my favorite chapters), but mostly because Lee just wasn't very active this chapter. He isn't even *re*-active. He's... a passive observer really. Brendan called all the shots except the solar beam, and that attack hurt Lee & Brendan more than Norman. Lee wasn't debating what to do or even coming up with and discarding plans throughout the fight. It just felt... very observer-esque and not very participant-esque if that makes sense? Brendan's role was described as decisive leadership that decided the pacing of the fight this whole chapter, while Lee's role was described more like someone watching a pokemon battle rather than participating. It honestly didn't help how Sceptile's attacks were described this chapter. His help in the fight felt as effective as a *gnat* against Slaking (except for the very last blow he made on Slaking's tendon). Did Sceptile impact the end result of the fight? Yes. Death by a thousand papercuts is a legitimate strategy! Its just that they way Sceptile's attacks were *described* felt... ineffective. Tone and word choices have a big influence on why it feels this way. Swampert's attacks were very descriptive while Sceptiles... were not. Swampert's attacks were also described as 'massive blows that shook the stadium!' Sceptile's attacks were described more like 'Oh he uh... snuck in a little cut on Slaking that didn't even bleed...?' Just... tone made Sceptile feel useless and Lee didn't seem to really call any orders that Sceptile wouldn't/couldn't have thought up himself. So, emotionally, I didn't really care what was happening because neither Lee nor Sceptile felt all that involved in the happenings.
