Voting time! Sticker texture?
Added 2024-05-29 20:37:14 +0000 UTCDid you notice that this months Toad stickers have two stickers in the normal glossy texture and one sticker that has a matte finish? We’ve been experimenting with different types of sticker laminates and found this matte laminate that we thought was comparable to the matte textured stickers from big sticker manufacturers. What do you guys think? Is there a texture that you prefer?
Admittedly, this photo isn’t great, but the pastel pokemon are smooth and glossy while the reptiles are velvety, soft-sandpapery (i don’t know how to describe it haha) matte.

Ive noticed glossy normally lasts a lot longer! One of my newer stickers on my water bottle is matte and the print is already coming off.

2024-05-30 13:41:42 +0000 UTCI like both as long as they’re both waterproof. I think you should do whichever you’re feeling fits each design (if possible)! Glossy vs matte finish never influences my decisions when buying stickers irl at conventions so I would be happy receiving either.

2024-05-29 22:55:52 +0000 UTCI prefer the look of matte, but I also don't typically put mine anywhere that water is a concern. If they do indeed not hold up as well I think gloss is also fine and would be a good reason to stick with it.

2024-05-29 22:07:09 +0000 UTCFor extra clarification: the matte stickers should be equally waterproof compared to the glossy! According to the manufacturer, the matte laminate and glossy laminate are supposed to be the same, they just have different finishes on outside. However, we haven’t had the matte as long, so we’ll have to see how it holds up with long term testing. I suppose it’s possible that the smooth texture of the glossy helps the sticker to dry off faster than the matte, and perhaps the matte holding on to moisture longer could cause more damage to the sticker over time?

2024-05-29 20:51:24 +0000 UTCI love both! I think my only concern would be if the matte can hold up to water? I know some of us like to decorate our water bottles and wouldn’t want our slippery friends to actually slip away!!
