i went out with the boys tonight, but i ended up coming home earlier than planned. thought maybe i’d catch you before you fell asleep. i walk in and there you are, out cold on the couch, curled up under a blanket. you must’ve tried to wait up for me. you didn’t make it, but that’s okay. i just stand there for a second, looking at you, peaceful, soft, completely still, and i feel it again. that thing i’ve been thinking about all night. how lucky i am. how crazy it is that you’re mine. i wake you gently, help you up, and bring you to bed. all night, all i’ve been thinking is how lucky i am to see you, hold you, touch you, feel you. in a way no one else ever will. and i mean it. i’m so damn lucky to have you.
