December Updates (and Tenebroum 2 book launch)

Hello everyone. A few quick updates. First, on the Tenebroum front, book 2 drops on Amazon today, and the Lich finally gets its crown! So, if you're interested in an ebook, please pick one up here! The physical book is still in Amazon limbo (because they hate me) but will be out in the next few days, I'm sure. For those of you that are looking for the audiobook, it will be released early next year. I'll make a post when it comes out.

Death After Death got its new tier, and I'm getting very close to the point where I am ready to release 3 chapters a week. I imagine that will happen in about two weeks. When this happens my public weekly release schedule will be somewhat reorganized, but that won't affect anyone who reads on Patreon.

It's because of all your support and readership that I can devote extra time to it and increase the number of chapters per week that I post. Simon's story is actually doing so well, that I'm considering paying an editor to clean the chapters up before they even get to you. I know my self editing skills still leave a little something to be desired.

This wouldn't be cheap (I think it would be about $150/mo.) However, given that it's becoming my most read story, I feel like I can justify that, and welcome your feedback on the subject.

Brewing Bad doesn't have any real news this week. I continue to make steady progress, and at some point, I plan on making a new cover. We are in Book 2 after all. I do however apologize in advance for some of the terrible cliffhangers that lie ahead. Things are heating up!

My Letter of the Law rewrite is going in earnest now. I don't know when I'll do the relaunch on RR/SH, but I imagine it will be in early spring or so. Patrons will see it sooner. This version will be a more fleshed on trilogy instead of the format I used last time, and I think it will have a bit more of the hero's journey in it (a la Simon's second and third arcs.)

It turns out you learn a lot about writing, by writing a lot. Who knew!

The Broken System trilogy is also done, theoretically. I have turned in the final version to the editor but have not yet gotten the edits back. The cover is also about 75% done on this one.

In terms of future stories, I'm working on a few things. One is Golemancer adjacent. One is LitRpg, and one is... well. I haven't decided. I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to write seriously next, in terms of a new story once Tenebroum Edits and the Letter of the Law rewrites are done. I do welcome feedback though. My two leading contenders are Dragon Heart (it will be getting a better name later) and The Blood-Stained Blade. Both of which 10-20k words to their name already and are available to read on the patron discord in the new stories channel. If you read Dragon Heart specifically, I would love to know if you think the addition of LitRpg mechanics would help or hurt it. I'm conflicted.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope your Holidays have been happy ones so far!

Your chapters are usually pretty clean when I read them (though I usually get to them weeks later or posted to RR) so I personally don't think they need line editing. Like beta readers can proofread. If you're using a developmental editor to keep the content making sense that's different since you'd probably let them into your deeper plot plans, but everything seems pretty solid or at least I don't see any holes

Lump or spread out both have something to recommend them, so either works. An editor would be great, only if it doesn’t slow things down or crimp your process. Glad to hear you’re doing well. Happy holidays!

Dylan

I prefer 3 chapters in a lump too. 3 at once is yummy. The question is how to last until next Monday after that...

GrinBean

Probably would prefer 3 chapter in a lump but I’m not sure about others. Maybe do a poll

DeadSlime

I was just going to continue to drop them all on Mondays with everything else, but if people want them more spread out, I suppose I could do 2 at the beginning and 1 on Friday if people would like to see them more spread out. If we ever get to 4 posts a week I would definitely do 2 Monday, 2 Friday. For RR/SH it was probably going to be something like: Mon - Death After Death Tue - Brewing Bad Wed - Death After Death Thurs - Tenebroum Fri - Death After Death Sat - Brewing Bad Sun - Tenebroum So, only minor tweaks to the existing schedule.

What’s the schedule for Death after Death each week? Is it going to be 3 chapters in a lump or some other variation?
