X-OVER: RIP and TEAR, Until IT IS DONE

CHAPTER 2: [Highschool of the Dead]

-

A/N:

I locked in and somehow wrote two chapters in one day. I know, even I am surprised.

-

As they moved to the faculty office, he looked at the two in front of him and noted that their coordination and teamwork with one another are commendable. They cover each other's backs and move fluidly.

Impressive.

As for him... Well, he can easily take care of himself. One punch to the jaw with BERSERK activated outright blows their heads off. And because of his high DEX stat, he can easily react and counterattack anything that comes within his range.

He also had the TRON Light Suit underneath his own gakuran, so most attacks other than bites are nullified as the zombies hit and strike at his body.

[OBSERVE activated]

[LVL 3 Zombie (1%) — Hostility : ENEMY]

[DMG Potential : 30 ~ 75]

The damage wasn't much if considering his high HP Pool, but the issue was the zombie virus. Definitely don't want to test its effectiveness—

A sudden shriek near the faculty office made everyone hasten their steps as they started sprinting towards the sound.

Turning the corner, they saw a horde of zombies walking towards the two students standing near the trophy displays.

A student was frantically reloading a nail gun when a zombie ignored the boy and was at reaching distance from one of the students, a girl with pink hair tied in twin-tails.

[Both are main casts, Takagi Saya and Hirano Kohta!]

Shit! That Z's about to bite her!

Quickly, he went into his pockets before requesting for items from the Inventory to be placed in his hand.

[2x Weapons : Razor Blade, coming right up!]

Feeling the metallic objects in his fingers, he brought them out of his pocket before aiming with his free hand. With his high DEX and STR, he should be able to—

"GO AWAY!"

The girl screamed before piercing the skull of the zombie using an electric drill before turning it on, the metal bit drilling into the zombie's head.

Blood spewed all over the place as she continued pushing the drill bit into its head.

"Damn you! DIE! DIE DIE DIE DIIIIEEE!"

Sets of footsteps echoed through the hallway as another group appeared, one purple-haired student with a wooden bokken in her hands, while a blond-haired adult trailed behind her with a filled bag.

[Another set of main casts. Busujima Saeko and Marikawa Shizuka.]

As Saya knocked the zombie down with the drill still in its head, their two groups made eye contact before Takashi yelled, pointing at Saeko.

"Rei, go left; I'll deal with the right! Lee, the ones that are coming from the back!"

David nodded before turning to see the zombies that were attracted by the noise and screaming.

"Well, well..."

Saeko looked at Takashi and Rei's combat skills as they fought the Zs between them and the faculty office with an impressed look.

Her eyes then met his.

"Busujima Saeko, 3rd-year student. And you?"

"David Lee Yong Zuan, foreign exchange student."

They both introduced themselves with a relaxed tone as if it were a normal Tuesday, while the adult teacher, Shizuka, hid behind them both from the Zs that came their way.

"Mou, is this the time for greetings?!"

With the pleasantries out of the way, the two of them exploded into action.

Raising her bokken upright, she waited until the zombies reached her range before swinging her wooden katana at lightning speeds, caving through the skulls of the zombies with a single strike.

David, on the other hand, was busy experimenting with his projectile razor blades, throwing them at varied strengths to figure out the best energy-to-strength ratio when using razor blades as his ranged option.

In under five minutes, the surrounding was quiet from any zombies and groaning for once, except for the sound of continuous drilling.

[You have killed 7 enemies and gained 90 Experience Points!]

Wow, that nerf was hard.

[Yeah, the Experience Points gain was based on the Level of an enemy multiplied by a specific number.]

[Clearly, that was too broken, as you'll be killing hundreds of thousands of zombies.]

[So, I scaled it down and made some changes.]

Well, it did make sense... He personally preferred this as well. Great job, Tova.

[+1 with ██ TOVA ██ for being such a nice person! (6/100)]

[Hehehe, of course! I'm the best!]

"I'll keep watch."

He told Saeko, who nodded before walking to the clearly distraught Saya. Looking out for any more Zs, he, in the meantime, brought up the Inventory display to have a look at some stuff.

Navigating to his new weapon, he could barely hold back a whistle once he got a good look at the sword's 3D model.

The sword was about 85 centimeters long, with the blade occupying more than half the length at a long 70 centimeters.

The blade was fully jet-black, while the handguard was black, shaped as a quatrefoil with a gold core and border. Meanwhile, the handle was gold in color without any outer wrapping and had slight ridges the shape of fingers at where the katana should be gripped.

Just by seeing the fingerprint marks on the handle, it was evident that the previous owner must have used it a lot.

[MAINTENANCE activated]

Information on how to maintain and fix the blade flowed into his mind as he made a mental note on the supplies needed.

The blade was pristine, but the handle needed an outer wrapping to avoid slipping. He'll also need oil and a maintenance kit.

Ugh, he was so excited to use it, but there was no way for him to explain the sudden appearance of it if he brought it out...

[Maybe you can make up a reason to grab supplies from your dorm room?]

The question is, when and how should he split up with the group to fake it?

[How about right now? Their decision currently is to hole up in the faculty room. Tell them that you're going to grab supplies alone, and in the meantime, you can grind out more kills.]

Great idea, actually.

As the group started to walk into the faculty office once the Saya girl stopped breaking down, he pulled Takashi for a moment.

"I'm going to grab my supplies from my dorm."

"What?! That's risky!"

He raised his voice in shock; David quickly silenced the boy.

"Quiet down. We'll need supplies to survive, especially with a group this large. I'll bring the food and drinks that I've saved up in my dorm along with some other essentials too."

"Lee, wait, if that's the case, then we all can move together!"

"No, you all stay and barricade the door. I'll be back in 10 to 15 minutes. If not, then leave without me."

"But—"

He tightens the grip on Takashi's shoulder.

"You're the only one who can lead at this point, other than Busujima. You have to think of the 5 lives in that room. Would you risk five lives just to help the single one?"

Takashi's face scowled as he pondered.

"... Damn it, you better come back."

Finally. Freedom, at least for 10 minutes. David nods before turning around.

Tova, set a timer for 10 minutes.

[Alright. 10 minutes, counting down.]

He had a timer to clear out as many zombies as he could. The more he killed, the less chance of them biting and infecting his Quest objective. And the level-up experience was a bonus too; he's killing three birds with a single punch.

Once he made sure that the group behind the faculty office doors had started barricading the door, David cracked his neck before reinserting the helmet of the Light Suit back onto his head.

What were the words again...? He looked at his Skill page before nodding.

Ah, right.

It's time to Rip and Tear.

=

=

=

Now that he was free to do anything for the next foreseeable future of 10 minutes, he casually walked around the stairs area near the first floor of the school.

Turns out, the heels of the bodysuit were sound absorbent, meaning as long as he doesn't stomp his foot onto the ground too hard, his steps will not make a single peep.

He experimented with the Inventory, and it turns out that he could will any item that touched his skin away with a single thought.

He could will the gakuran over his bodysuit away into the Inventory in the blink of an eye and then wear it back on within a nanosecond.

The same thing goes with all his equipment and weapons; that's very useful. So, he willed away his gakuran uniform and was left with his bodysuit.

Earlier, he noticed the disc on his back but didn't have the time to inspect it. So, he reached behind and got a firm grip on the disc-like object before pulling it out.

The disc in his hand activated the moment it separated from the bodysuit, lighting up in a neon dark green hue as a vibrating hum echoed from the disc.

The sound caused all the zombies in the nearby vicinity to be attracted to him, as all of them turned their heads and stared at David.

[OBSERVE activated]

[Identity Disc (TRON) (∞) — Futuristic energy disc used primarily as identification to differentiate between programs in the digital world.]

[Set with Equipment : Light Suit (TRON)]

[DMG Potential : 200 ~ 500 HP]

[The disc can be thrown.]

Like, Captain America style?

[Exactly like Captain America style.]

Oh, baby, this ought to be good! Wait, will the energy disc scratch or damage the walls?

[I'll turn the energy beam surrounding the disc off before it bounces off the walls.]

With enough said, David twisted his torso and arm back before throwing it forward at a zombie.

Humming, the disc soared in a perfectly straight line, slicing off the zombie's head from its neck. Then, it miraculously rebounded off a wall before returning back to his direction as he caught it mid-air.

... This is so sick.

[COMBAT EXPERT activated]

[WEAPON MASTER activated]

[BERSERK activated]

{STR : 52 → 260}

{STR : 52 → 260}

{STR : 52 → 260}

{520/520HP → 2600/2600HP}

A rush of pure, unadulterated rage explodes from his core as the zombies start to rush towards him.

They didn't need to move far, as he jumped into the group of zombies.

Every punch and kick shattered bone and splattered blood.

Every slice, jab, and throw with the energy blade of the Identity Disc severed heads and cauterized blood droplets in an instant.

With only his Identity Disc and his bare limbs, he moved through the whole lower floor, ripping and tearing through anything that moved until they were dead on the floor.

Ten minutes of fighting later, blood caked his entire suit, and peaceful silence filled the nearby. Even his helmet was covered in blood that needed wiping in order to regain vision.

[GLORY KILL activated x48]

[You have killed 57 enemies and gained 631 Experience Points!]

[You've leveled up from LVL 9 → 10! (21/1000)]

[BERSERK deactivated]

Phew, that was therapeutic; he should do this more. And as for the blood...

It was a simple fix; he simply unequipped and re-equipped his bodysuit and told Tova to get rid of the blood.

Still, this Class of his truly is overpowered.

BERSERK drains SP, but GLORY KILL has a chance to restore the lost SP, and the cycle continues. Meaning, as long as there are enemies around, BERSERK could be active 24/7.

Not nerfing that, are you?

[Nope, that's what the Class is about.]

[Killing, killing, and more killing until the only thing that they fear will be you.]

Dark—Ah, he forgot to try out the Nichirin Sword of his. Darn, he got too narrow-sighted with all the enemies around.

The INDOMITABLE RAGE Perk and BERSERK Skill of his really make him tunnel-vision.

[Just a reminder, the ten-minute timer is about to end.]

Nice, thanks for the reminder.

He walked around the ground level to find a bag big enough to fit large items.

Once he found a few of them, he started offloading all the stuff he gracefully looted from the school earlier into them before heading back up to the second floor, where the faculty office was.

=

=

=

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

His fist knocked on the barricaded faculty door.

"It's me."

"L-Lee-san! Are you alright?"

"Hold on, we'll open the door—"

"Keep it shut. I'll wait outside until everyone's ready to move out."

It would be a hassle for them to open the barricade and reseal it, so he instead opted to wait outside.

Dragging a chair from a classroom, he rests it near the doors before sitting down with his eyes peeled.

"What's the plan?"

He asked the group. Surely they'll have already made a plan after 10 minutes.

"Hey, what even are you? You just went back and forth through hordes of "them", the dorm is a few blocks away! Are you some kind of monster?"

The voice was Saya's. As for her question, he just stayed silent and shrugged... Right, they can't see him.

"They die. It's easy."

"... Easy, you said? What the hell?!"

"The parking lot is closest if we leave through the front entrance. We already have the key to a school bus, and Marikawa-sensei can drive it."

"Ah, I'm not really sure about the driving part..."

A bus is decent enough. Enough space for the group and incredibly tough in terms of durability. The downsides are major, though. It uses lots of fuel, has poor maneuverability, has a loud engine, and has poor off-roading.

Not to mention frequent roadblocks that would occur due to its large size.

But they need to get out of the school, so it's their best choice for now. He'll keep his eyes out for a van; it has the same advantages with few cons compared to a bus.

Giving them a few minutes for a breather later, they removed the barricade and cautiously exited the faculty office.

"Oya, you've brought a lot of things back from the dorm."

The teacher Shizuka mentioned as she peered into the bags that he brought.

That's when David noticed something.

Holy cow, those are huge! And the rest of the girls had large ones as well! He's not a pervert, but he couldn't help but take a peek at them.

Just… Wow.

[In this universe, women have larger proportions.]

[BERSERK activated]

His face burned up as he felt the blond teacher's chest graze his arm, but he managed to compose himself by activating BERSERK to fill his thoughts with anger.

[BERSERK deactivated]

Phew...

[Interesting, so you like large, buxom women with large curves?]

... Er, this is... Well, what kind of man wouldn't find them appealing? But why the sudden question?

[Nothing. Nothing at all.]

[+1 with ██ TOVA ██ for being a man of culture! (7/100)]

... Moving on.

The formation of the group was balanced.

Takashi led the group, with Kohta and Saeko to his left and right.

Behind them were Saya and Shizuka as the backline, with Rei being the last line of defense in case the front line gets broken through.

As for David himself, he's the all-rounder that will provide support in all lines if needed. He proved himself by "going to and back with supplies," so no one questioned his combat capabilities.

Once everyone was ready, Takashi led the charge as they moved as a group.

"Let's go!"

=

=

=

Moving through the hallway filled with blood and corpses of his own making, the group stared at the carnage that he created as the student Kohta stammered.

"Geez, you really are that strong? It's a bloodbath out here."

"As long as you cave their head in, they stay down."

David explained with a swinging motion using his arm.

"Just... What? Listen to yourself. Do you know how hard you have to strike to break a person's skull?"

Saya sighed with her palm on her head as Saeko suddenly appeared beside him, staring at the katana sheath that was sticking out and at the cleanly sliced bodies.

"You practice Kendo?"

"... I dabble a little."

Technically it's true, as WEAPON MASTER would feed him the information required.

The purple-haired senior smiled with a hint of excitement in her eyes.

"I would love to see you in action."

"Your wish might come true, Busujima-senpai. There are a few of "them" nearby."

Takashi warned the group just as they reached the stairs, watching as zombies slowly walked up to a cornered group of students.

Main casts?

[Nope. You won't meet more until you get out of here.]

Their lives are useless then, as harsh as it sounds.

Seeing the Zs, the group went into combat mode as Saeko advised everyone.

"Don't fight needlessly. If you can get away, get away. If they get too close, just knocking them over will do too; let Yong Zuan-kun kill them off. and conserve your energy for later."

Saya then continued with her own advice.

"These guys react only to noise! And are strong enough to bust down a door. And if they catch you, they'll eat you, so watch yourselves!"

With their piece said, the front line leaped into action while Rei and David kept guard.

A quick minute later, they cleared the small horde with no injuries to the other group of students.

Checking them for any injuries, Rei relayed that they weren't bitten. Takashi asked them if they're coming with them, to which they quickly responded with a yes.

He held back, clicking his tongue. Now there were 12 of them. It'll be hard to move with such a large group.

Eventually, they walked down the stairs and reached the front entrance. Sneaking to the far-end lockers, Takashi peered out from his hiding spot before relaying back information.

"There are tons of them; we'll be seen."

"They can't see us, so we don't need to hide."

Saya mentioned her theory once more as Rei whispered back.

"Even if Takagi-kun's theory is right, we can't go anywhere quietly with all these people."

"But if we remain in the school... We'll be too crowded to move if we're attacked. All we can do is make a break for the front door. Somebody... has to clear the path."

The choice was obvious.

Taking out the spare razor blades that he had left, he placed the bags down and took off his shoes before casually walking towards the zombies that filled the front entrance.

"Ah, Lee-san!"

Shizuka tried to stop him, but a single confident look from him stopped her.

Silently walking towards one of the nearby Zs, he showcased Saya's theory of them being sound-sensitive to the group.

As expected, they didn't even notice that a fresh human was standing right in front of them.

To the nearest zombie, he raised the razor blade in his hand to its head before ramming it into its skull.

It died before it could even breathe, its knees buckling as it dropped down to the ground, but he caught the body in the midst of falling.

Gently laying the corpse on the ground, he continued his assassination spree as, one by one, he killed every single Z that was blocking the entrance.

[GLORY KILL activated x21]

[You have killed 21 enemies and gained 210 Experience Points!]

He didn't even need to use BERSERK on them. Walking back to the group, he ignored the shocked looks as he slung the bags he dropped back onto his back.

"Coast is clear. We should move as silently as possible."

"... No sense of fear at all. Just who is this guy?"

The group of students walked up to the front entrance as Takashi opened the glass doors silently.

Looking out from the entrance, most of the students started to tense up at the abundant amount of zombies walking outside the school building.

"Thanks to David, my theory is proven to be right, so listen, everyone! Just stay calm and walk as silently as you can. The bus isn't far off!"

And with that, the stealth mission to reach the school bus starts.

... There was supposed to be a stealth mission if it weren't for some unimportant idiot falling the moment he stepped foot out of the building entrance.

The loud "thud" to the ground drew the attention of every Z in the vicinity as they turned to face the group.

"RUN!!"

Takashi, you're another idiot!

"Why'd you yell?! If we'd been quiet, we might've gotten by just dealing with the closest ones!"

Exactly, Saya!

"Regardless, sound will keep echoing, so it's no use!"

Rei, that's ridiculous!

"I think we should do less talking and more running!"

He could get behind that, Kohta. But this was a great opportunity to break the new weapon in!

Grabbing the katana from his bags, he used some scotch tape to tie a makeshift holster to hang the katana sheath onto his belt before drawing the blade.

The weight balance was perfect.

The blade is incredibly sharp.

And it felt good on the hand.

[WEAPON MASTER activated]

With his main hand gripping the handle while his offhand stabilized the blade's line, he swung at a Z that came after him.

The horizontal slash was textbook as it decapitated the zombie without feeling any resistance; it's like using a hot knife to cut butter.

His WEAPON MASTER Skill fed him with swordsmanship data as he sheathed the blade into its sheath before getting into an Iaido stance.

The second a zombie stepped into his range, its head was sliced off in the next second.

Saeko snuck into his field of view as she killed a zombie that was about to enter his range.

"Remarkable form. I see that you studied Iaido as well."

"Thanks. Your form is amazing too. I see you prefer ōji-waza strikes."

"Why yes, that is my preferred style of kendo. And you, shikaku-waza?"

"It's useful; they don't attempt to counter back."

"Ufufu, that's true. Maybe I should switch as well."

Noticing that the non-combatants were straying too far from the front line, he unfortunately had to stop their conversation as he ran to guard off the zombies that came close.

Stupidly, one of the non-important students ran back to help an already bitten goner after Saya had tried to dissuade her.

He could save the girl by dragging her back... But why should he? They're not the main cast; he's not an altruistic guy.

[Exactly!]

Yeah, yeah.

"Why? Why?! I told her what would happen, yet she goes back? I don't believe it!"

"... I know why."

Shizuka muttered.

"If this is what the whole world's turned into... it's easier to just die."

That clearly made Saya angry as she started yelling.

"What?! You're a nurse! How can you say that—!"

"Watch out!"

Hirona pulled Saya out of the way as he fired a nail into a zombie that reached out to the girl. With the threat neutralized, he breathed out as he tried to calm Saya down.

"Please, calm down, Takagi-san."

"You worthless geek! Who asked you?!"

It clearly ticked him, but Kohta gave her a sheepish smile.

"... If you want to talk, I'll hear you out for as long as you want later, so please?"

"K-Kuh..."

She blushed at his words when Saeko came close to them with a smile.

"My, I'm rather jealous of how close you two are."

Damn it, he too wanted a girl to blush like that towards him! Kohta, you're a man!

"Sensei, the key!"

Takashi yelled at Shizuka for the key before he unlocked the bus' door with a click.

"Go, go!"

"I'll fire from the window!"

"Quick—Now's the chance!"

"Takashi, we can't hold them off forever!"

"Komuro-kun, Yong Zuan-san, go!"

As everyone entered the bus and Takashi was about to close the door...

"—Please!!!"

Wait... He had heard this slimy male's voice before. Looking at the direction where it came from, he was surprised to see that the teacher that tried stopping him earlier was alive! With a whole group of students as well?

Damn. Too bad he's not getting saved—

[It seems that Komuro Takashi doesn't agree with your opinion.]

Wait, what? Oh, come on, Takashi!

[But it seems that Miyamoto Rei agrees from how she's glaring at her friend.]

... Well, it adds to the drama, he guessed. He didn't really care if the extras got on or not in the first place, as long as he could protect the main cast.

[Since the atmosphere is somewhat safe, here's the overview of your gains!]

[GLORY KILL x8 activated]

[You have killed 15 enemies and gained 170 Experience Points!]

[Skill : GLORY KILL has leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (2/100) — Finish off an enemy with 5% or less HP in the most brutal, berserk-like fashion to heal either 1.5% of HP or 1% of SP randomly.]

[Skill : WEAPON MASTER has leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (2/100) — Grants knowledge of any weapon in your hands and +2% DMG to all Weapons in combat.]

[Skill : COMBAT EXPERT has leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (2/100) — Grants knowledge of an enemy's weakness in combat and +0.4% EXP GAIN in combat.]

[Skill : BERSERK has leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (2/10) — Costs 20 SP per Minute; +STR, DEX, and END X 5.5

| "Against all the evil that hell can conjure, all the wickedness that mankind can produce. We'll send unto them, only you... RIP AND TEAR, UNTIL IT IS DONE." |]

[Skill : OBSERVE has leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (2/100) — Grants knowledge of a target's information.]

That's a lot of things at once. Let's see here...

The most notable increases were for GLORY KILL and BERSERK.

GLORY KILL now heals for an additional 0.5% for both HP and SP.

BERSERK has an increased cost of 10 points, but the payoff is the 0.5 times increase in its multiplier.

The option to increase his mental stats keeps making more sense; more SP would be amazing, especially if you consider the fact that BERSERK won't be the only Skill he'll ever use. There may be more Skills down the line that would prove as useful as BERSERK.
