RWBY: The One and Only

CHAPTER 1

-

A/N:

This chapter has been in the backburner for over 5 months. Just wanted to release it for some satisfaction.

Next chapter: It's Time to Duel!

About 50% completed. Said 50% containing all the dialogue and words before and after the Duel, the missing 50% is the content in the chapter's Duel.

I swear, the only think holding me back from posting fast chapters is making the decks for the non-important characters. Like the instructors in canon, their decks in canon are just... what am I even supposed to do with it?

There are two choices:

One, I cook up a new deck that actually is good. The only problem is that it's taking too long. I'm not a trained professional at creating decks, especially old ones in the GX Era.

Two, I let Ken absolutely demolish said NPCs to the ground. It makes my life easier, and you guys get the chapters much faster. The problem is this: I don't want Ken to be a Gary Stu. I already have complaints about how he doesn't lose, or that his deck is OP compared to the cast, or that other people just have shittier decks.

Just a side tangent, every Duel with a named-character, I upgraded their deck slightly to match Ken's deck. For example, Dark Magician in his fight with Yugi. I personally updated his deck and then some more, the only reason why you don't see it is because I'm actually using a sim to play the rounds out. The Pot of Greeds baffled even me.

And in the fight with Edo Phoenix, his deck was actually goated, by the way. It had all the basic staples a HERO deck would have, and by the gods was his canon deck horrid. No extenders, no combo starters, definitely no Stratos. It's far harder to cook up a deck with limited resources.

I pray every night to be able to skip a few dozen chapters to actually get to the good stuff, where decks are actually playable, like Vision HERO or even Yubel Engines for example. Those two would make deck building a life saver.

Anyway, slight rant is done. Comment below on what you prefer, ONE or TWO, I'll put up a poll after this chapter.

Enjoy this DBZ chapter!

"Sorry about this. I need to survive too."

The boy muttered quietly to the charging boar, his voice calm as he lowered himself into a readied stance. The beast roared as it thundered toward him with frightening speed.

He waited. Patiently. Until—

Now!

With a swift sidestep, he avoided the charge and gripped the boar’s thick fur. Using its momentum, he launched himself into the air, shifting his weight until he stood balanced on its back. The animal, startled by its predator now perched atop it, thrashed wildly.

(Bibibibibibi~!)

A ball of yellow light manifests in his palm before he jumps into the air and lets it go wild, the light firing out from his hand in the form of a beam, carving and piercing through the skull of the animal with its intense heat generated.

The corpse of the boar slid and fell to the ground, with him landing gracefully. His face, however, had a hint of regret, with him apologizing to the fallen animal one last time before he walked towards the corpse.

With a grunt, he hefted the car-sized boar, one of the largest that he had seen in this area, onto his shoulder. With his enemy now down and no other Ki that would cause any harm, the belt of fur around his waist twitched, then unraveled itself lazily into the air like a living tail.

With the area now safe and no hostile Ki nearby, he relaxed and began the walk home.

His Saiyan appetite sure was annoying to sate. He had to hunt 5 times the normal amount just to fill his hunger. The size of the boar was larger than he thought, so maybe he'll eat most of it and give the rest to the village next door.

Humming in thought, he passed through a river, hopping the whole length with a powerful leap. He did stop and look at the reflection of the waters once he crossed the river, since he still wasn't used to this face.

Staring back at him was a small-sized, black-eyed boy with short, messy, spiky black hair.

His name was Son Ruiku, of Saiyan descent. More specifically, he was 300-ish years past the main story line, give or take two generations after Goku Junior. You know... The Goku-like child who fought in the 64th Tenka'ichi Budokai at the end of Dragon Ball GT against Vegeta Jr.?

He did look more like Gohan, though, but that's probably the inner fanboy speaking. And yes, he was a fanboy of the Dragon Team; that's because he watched the journey of the original Son Goku throughout the years on a television screen.

The past him was a weak and frail child that had been hospitalized for over a decade because of a newly found disease that was incurable. Too bad that he died at a young age, but he had very well-off parents who bought everything to dull the pain.

Especially manga volumes and online access to anime.

After remembering fainting on a random day, he was suddenly awoken in the familiar hut as a child in the District 439 of the East Mountains with zero pain in his limbs. He didn't want to admit it, but he was sobbing for the whole day at the freedom of moving without keeling to the ground in pain.

This second chance was a blessing that he took without hesitating at all. Mount Paozu was a beautiful place with adventure basically screaming at him to take and enjoy, so that's what he did. For the past 4 years he had been alone in the mountains, enjoying his new life.

He even taught himself how to fight and defend himself with the energy source of the living, Ki. It was as mythical as it was portrayed in Dragon Ball.

Speaking of a Dragon Ball, he owns one in the wooden hut that he currently lives in.

The Four-Star Dragon Ball. The sphere of orange had this mysterious energy emitting from it; you could clearly see that it was not human-made with how perfect and inhuman the making of the Dragon Ball is.

It's hidden inside the wooden hut under a wooden plank, though he doubts that anyone would try and find them. The story of Son Goku has faded from history. He went to the nearest city, East City, and asked around.

No one knows Son Goku at all. Even Cell, which was mind-blowing. And Vegeta Junior's family died out when his son didn't sire an heir; the Capsule Corporation was now being run by another family other than the Briefs.

Setting the boar down on the ground, Ruiku moved to grab the knives that he traded from the village nearby to skin the fur and other organs that are inedible off. He was no cook, but having five-spice powder was saving his appetite and stomach.

As he was midway through slicing meat off the boar carcass, something happened. Out of nowhere at all, a huge amount of energy exploded outside his hut. Surprised, he dropped his knife onto the ground and ran to the door to see what was happening...

"What in the...?!"

The skies were darkened with black clouds blocking sunlight, and outside his hut was a large dragon with rainbow scales, staring at him with a ferocious intensity that sent shivers down his spine.

"Shenron?"

Well, it looked like the Eternal Dragon, but it was much smaller and more colorful. Why did it look different? What the hell was this amount of Ki radiating from it? Actually, the most important question was, why was it in front of his home?

All of a sudden, his body started to glow abruptly.

[YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED.]

Ruiku barely had the chance to yelp a surprised cry before his vision blackened as his whole being disappeared into white dots of light.

With its job completed, the Rainbow Dragon shrouded itself in kaleidoscope-colored Ki before blasting into the skies, disappearing from the sight of humans before they could find out the cause of such drastic weather changes.

In the summer of Year 1999, 62 Years after the Great War...

(BANG!)

She cried out as her back slammed onto a large tree trunk, her body limping as the final drops of Aura in her system dried out, causing it to shatter into the wind. Exhaustion gripped her limbs, leaving them limp and unresponsive, but she persevered as she barely guarded against the slash towards her neck with the shaft of her broken axe-rifle weapon.

With a loud clang, she managed to block the attack but was blindsided as a devastating haymaker crashed into her cheek. Her vision blurred as her head whipped sideways, smashing against the trunk.

"Summer Rose, at last! My Queen will be pleased when I bring your head to her."

The scorpion-tailed Faunus cackled as he grabbed a fistful of the woman's hair, dragging her limp body up to eye-level as gold met silver. Struggling to stand on her own feet, she glared at Tyrian Callows before her eyes briefly shifted to the other person in the Grimmlands.

"Hazel... Why..."

The man simply looked away with a sigh as Tyrian slapped her face.

"Ah, ah, ah! Don't focus on that buzzkill."

He licked his lips with a deranged grin as he raised The Queen's Servants, resting it on her face; the cold steel with her own bloodstains sent chills down her spine. The blade of the one-armed weapon slowly sliced her skin apart, leaving a trail of blood down her face.

"Tyrian, don't play around. Her Silver Eyes—"

Hazel Rainart looked at Tyrian with a frown as he placed an arm on his comrade's shoulder, urging him to quickly deal with their problem, only for Tyrian to shove it away as he clicked his tongue.

"Tsk, fine! It's not like she's in any state to use them..."

Returning his attention back to the downed Summer Rose, he released his grip on her hair, dropping her onto the ground with a flop as he raised The Queen's Servants up high, ready to finish the Silver-Eyed Warrior.

"Don't worry, Summer Rose... You'll be able to meet your family soon, after I'm done with them!"

She clenched her eyes shut, waiting for the final blow.

It was said that your life flashed before your eyes when death had you in its grip.

But for her, it wasn’t her life that played out. Instead, it was everything she was about to lose.

She saw her husband, smiling that soft, gentle smile that made her fall in love with him in the first place. She remembered the last hug. The last kiss.

And then it flickered to her daughters. So small. So bright.

She wouldn’t see them grow up. Wouldn’t be there when they cried. She would miss the opportunity to hold them one last time.

The regret cut deeper than any blade. Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes as she whispered a final apology.

The weapon came down.

But the pain didn't come. Instead, Tyrian gave out a surprised grunt as the air in front of her displaced. She hesitantly opened her eyes.

Black hair, wild and gravity-defying. Small, the size of her eldest daughter, Yang. But the impossible display of strength was present as both hands held the blades of The Queen's Servants tightly.

"Who—?!"

Hazel’s eyes narrowed, already pulling his arm back instinctively. Tyrian snarled, yanking at his weapon, trying to wrench it free from the boy's grasp. Calmly, the boy tilted his head just enough to meet Summer’s eyes.

"I have no idea what's happening, but it looks like you could use a hand, miss."

A sudden rush of fear formed in her stomach as she tried to warn the boy, not even thinking about where and how he appeared in the Grimmlands, continent of the Grimm.

"R-Run...!"

Letting go of The Queen’s Servants, Tyrian snarled and swung a wild punch at the boy. At the same time, Hazel’s massive fist came in slow. The boy didn’t flinch. Instead, he calmly turned his attention back to the threats in front of him.

And then he moved.

Before the weapons even hit the ground, the boy dipped under Tyrian’s punch with a fluid sidestep, then launched himself upward.

His hands latched onto Tyrian’s head.

In one sharp motion, his knee slammed into the Faunus’s face.

(CRACK!)

Tyrian's nose shattered. Blood burst from his face as his head snapped back violently, a shriek of pain erupting from his throat. Tyrian himself took a step back, reeling from the pain. The attack overpowered his Aura's defenses!

Hazel’s haymaker filled the space Tyrian had just left. A fist the size of the boy’s torso thundered toward him like a wrecking ball. Her eyes widened, but before she could cry out, the boy vanished from her point of view.

Hazel's eyes widened when the mysterious boy disappeared, only to feel a numb sensation at the back of his neck followed by an unnatural tilt in his balance. As he fell to the ground, he turned back and caught a glimpse of it.

A foot buried in his nape, driving him downward with crushing force.

As the large man crashed onto the ground with a bang, Ruiku landed lightly a few feet away from him. With his guard still up, he took the split second to analyze the situation he'd landed in.

Honestly, he hadn’t expected to appear in a completely unfamiliar place with twin blades immediately trying to skewer him. His body had moved on instinct before his mind caught up, kneeing the creepy guy's nose hard.

His eyes dart to the guy only to notice that he wasn't down for the count. Huh, usually that amount of power would have knocked out a normal guy cold. And as for the big guy... Wow, he was already pushing himself off the ground; the guy shrugged that off without much of a pep!

His eyes then landed on the injured woman lying on the tree trunk a few meters away... Her condition looks bad; she looked like she’d been through hell and was still on the ride.

Nothing a good old Senzu Bean can't solve... Well, if he had a proper one.

His hand patted the side of his pants, feeling a small object through his pants.

It's a century or two old, all shriveled up, and half its normal size due to being split into two, but it should still work fine enough to stop her from dying. That's if it still worked.

The gaze from the two hostiles locking onto him made him turn his head to face them.

"In any case..."

He'll have to put them out of commission first before he can—

His eyes shot wide as he ducked out of the way.

(Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang!)

Bullets soared through the air as they tore past where his head had been a second ago.

Of course the creepy guy’s twin-bladed gauntlets were also guns. Because why wouldn’t they be? Ruiku twisted and flipped backward, avoiding the next volley as he noticed the larger guy rushing towards him.

So the big guy was the slow bruiser, while the other was the agile DPS? Alright then, he now knew who to target. Tensing his body, he readied himself before moving in a flash.

One moment he was staring down at the large man running towards him, and in the next, his elbow was gorged deep into the creepy scorpion-tailed person's stomach.

His eyes bulged. Spit flew from his mouth as his body folded over the strike. Without missing a beat, Ruiku ripped his elbow back, then hopped, twisted mid-air, and threw a spinning kick.

The scorpion-tailed person was sent flying, his body ragdolling through the air before disappearing into a bush with a loud crash.

Landing, he didn't stop as he threw himself at the large man in one explosive burst. He cleared the distance in a blink, fist cocked back as the man curled slightly and crossed his arm to block the attack to his torso.

Unleashing the punch, his fist slammed into the guard, the sensation of flesh not registering. Looking a tad confused, he looked closely.

There's some kind of... force field around the man?

Before he could overthink it, a counter came. He dodged a right cross aimed at his head, using the momentum of the missed punch to his advantage as he threw three quick jabs into the man's exposed ribs.

Each hit landed, but not a single response from the man. He looked up at the man's expression. Not a single flinch, let alone pain.

That's weird. Some kind of passive enhancement? Damage mitigation? Whatever it was, his hits weren’t doing squat; it worked on the other guy, too.

Leaping backwards, he landed near the weakened woman still slumped by the tree. His eyes flicked to her. She's still breathing, but barely.

He exhaled sharply as his eyes narrowed in annoyance. He's wasting time when a person's in danger... If soft taps don’t work...he'll just hit harder and end this quickly.

He crouched low, arms drawn tight to his sides, spine bent as his feet dug into the dirt. Heat built in his chest as he focused on it, his brows furrowed as he let it rage on inside of him.

"Haaaaaah—!"

A burst of Ki erupted from his body, wind blasting outward toward the large man like a wave. Dust and pebbles rose from the ground. Gusts of wind blew harshly. The trees around him creaked.

Soon, everything returned back to normal except for himself.

His muscles tensed and swelled. The energy inside him tripled in an instant. The tension and pressure in the air thickened.

No more holding back.

He vanished.

No flicker. No warning. Just gone. Then, he reappeared inches in front of the man. Caught off guard, he threw a sloppy, instinctive punch.

A sickening snap echoed as the arm bent the wrong way, bone and muscle giving way under the impact. The surprised look on the man's face as the man clutched his broken arm wasn't pleasant. The sight confirmed his theory, though; it was pain nullification or something similar.

Another punch came his way.

He ducked easily before thrusting his fist upwards.

The slow sound of bones cracking rang above him as his knuckles caved into his chin, lifting the larger man clean off the ground. Ruiku pushed harder, legs driving through the motion. With a blast, he was launched skyward, his massive frame flipping backward through the air.

He waited for three seconds before reaching out his arm. Another second passed before he easily caught the man that came crashing down. He hung there for a second, dazed. Forming a knife-hand, he chopped the back of his neck directly at the nerves.

His eyes rolled back as his body went limp. Gently placing him down onto the ground, he double-checked once more by widening his senses.

The one near his feet was unconscious. And as for the other guy... Yep, he was out as well; his Ki was stable. The coast was clear.

He let out a breath as he powered down, his muscles returning back to their normal size as his Ki within him simmered. Stretching his arms, he rolled his shoulder with a light pop as he gave out a chuckle.

"That was a workout."

Nice finally being able to fight people again without holding back that much. The last time he did that... Yeah, the thugs in Satan City that messed with him on a bad day had to be hospitalized for quite some time.

With the threat defeated, Ruiku turned and walked toward the wounded woman by the tree.

The moment their eyes met, panic flared in her eyes. She tried to push herself up, but her body barely responded.

"N-No... no, stay back..."

He paused, then crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly, puzzled.

"Why are you scared? I got all the bad guys."

Watching her struggle to move her broken body, Ruiku rubbed the back of his head. Oh well, he decided to not think about it for now; whatever she was feeling could wait. Standing a few inches beside her, he dug his hand into the pocket of his old, worn gi pants and fished around for a moment before pulling out a dried-up, half-sliced bean.

Holding it with two fingers, he offered it to her.

"Here. This’ll patch you up until a professional can take a look at you."

She looked at the dried-up thing in his hand, eyes narrowing slightly, and then back to him. He gestured the bean closer.

"Can't... move hand..."

Oh, right. Mangled body.

"Ahaha, yeah. That’s on me.”

He leaned in slightly, lowering the bean to her mouth with a grin to ease the tension.

"Looks like you... need a hand."

He paused.

"... Get it? Because you can’t—yeah, okay."

The eye roll made him stop; that wasn't his best material, but at least it helped ease the tension a little as a weak smile appeared on her face.

"Just chew and swallow. It'll do the rest."

He gently plopped the shriveled bean into her mouth. For a second, she hesitated before she chewed and crunched the Senzu Bean. Swallowing the bean, the effect was instantaneous.

Bruises faded. Cuts stitched together. Color returned to her skin. Her breathing evened out. A faint flicker of the same force field that the big guy had sparked around her body, enveloping her whole body.

But the healing was just barely working.

The Senzu Bean wasn't as potent as it used to be; it belonged to Pan, Gohan's daughter, when she was going on adventures in space, you know? GT shenanigans.

He tried finding Korin's Tower or even Kami's Lookout for the source, but for some reason he couldn't. He also went around, trying to search for Upa and Bora's descendants to pinpoint where their ancestor used to live, but no luck.

"H-How...?"

The woman's speech wasn't slurring anymore; good thing the Bean still worked!

He checked his stock again before wincing. 3 more beans are left, each smaller and drier than the other. Ruiku estimated that eating all three would only be as potent as the one he gave the lady.

"It's a magical bean that heals all wounds and fills your stomach. It's super rare though; I only have... one left, kind of. Feel better now?"

She flexed her fingers before nodding.

"Much better... Who are you?"

Ruiku blinked. Oh, right. Introductions.

"Hi, I'm Ruiku. Nice to meet you."
