I needed to take a break from Desktop Pets today, so I tried my hand at regular-ass windows app development. This is the result. I like it so much I think I'll sell it on Steam for a cool 2 or 3 bucks. It lets you have gifs playing on your desktop.
I copied this project's (QuickView) idea, but I think I can humbly say I did it better. QuickView doesn't like playing high FPS gifs, and it also degrades color. AmaView plays them all flawlessly. It also has much better scaling options.
My app is not a fork or modification of QuickView. I made it entirely from scratch using C# in Visual Studio.
Right click: context menu
Mouse wheel: scale gif up or down
Double clicking the app won't work. You need to open a gif with it. Simplest way is to drag any gif onto AmaView.exe. The better way is to right click your gif > open with > choose another app and select AmaView.
If you didn't know, one of your rewards as a patron is access to the Animation Gallery channel in my discord.
I post most of my gifs in there. You can download them and use them with AmaView, but you could also play any other gif you can download from the internet.
