Regarding actors not afraid of making fun of themselves in this movie... I think I'd like you to watch SIN CITY (2005) which has surprise guests, don't let anyone spoil you though 🙂

You "could" research Robert Downey Jr before he did the Iron Man movie (before 2008) so that way you won't be spoiled. You might find that he is a "flawed" person/actor... much like the character he plays in this movie. You can see his layered character and he has doubts about himself. I haven't done the research myself but I know he has had several career ups and downs. Just like the "issues" with the choices he makes as the actor playing a character who's a dude playing another dude... lol If seems like this is about actors and parodying actors and the Hollywood system if that even exists and including acting methods and including the writers too... it's a bit jam packed and dense. You said "satire" and yes... at the very least satire is self aware, it is not unintentional comedy.
