the amount is set, but not everyone knows how many there are. There were eight, currently there are seven left. Two of those are known to be awake, nothing else is known except that one called Kimdi used to be their leader and is believed to still be awake. However, this exact number is not known by most - not even by most Guidar. The leaders know, but Slaudi didn't know for sure. Neither do the other guidar.

2026-02-16 11:02:46 +0000 UTCIt seems a bit like the amount of surviving Shaidin is fluctuating all over the place. As I understood it the Shaidin were collectively chained by one Guidar and just unchaining two was a huge difference of the one who chained them. So that should mean that there aren’t dozens of them left but just a few. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sense that the Guidar recuperated so much from the load of just two. Or did I misunderstand the amount of Guidar who have chained Shaidin?

2026-02-16 10:55:04 +0000 UTCIrwin is getting real scary as an opponent. Just imagine some dude who is practically immortal (as long as not all 4? body’s are killed simultaneously) can teleport short to mid range, is specialized in blunt force damage and can casually unleash firestorms and freaking hydrogen bomb equivalent explosions at will…

2026-02-16 10:35:46 +0000 UTCYes! Thank you for saying that! I think that's what is loosing me the most in the story. His wife was a crazy sword mistress, one of the best of her generation. And... he let her rot like that? He is 90 years old, close to 4 soul cards. And he left his wife at 1? Afair he did not even finish her 2nd one! The kids, I can kind of understand. But even then, it's no protection to not let them grow faster on Scour and earn beautiful years there. And once adult, gain at least 2-3 soul cards I understand he does not want them to fight. But leaving them powerless... I don't understand. If you love them, they should be the ones you power level first! To give them the most chances to survive any attack... I still love the story. I love the adventure. I understand not wanting too many "heroes" But this is a huge hole for me, that I have a hard time getting my head around

2026-02-16 06:54:42 +0000 UTCNot really connected to the plot but I hold out hope that Zeit's species will get a resurgence, same as with that fanatic shadow denizen that follows Coal's holder around (for the life of me I cant remember his name.)

2026-02-16 03:10:03 +0000 UTCWouldn’t the death and loss of 3 Shaidin be a signal that there is something significant in this branch and prompt a “quick” replacement fleet to investigate?

2026-02-16 01:43:14 +0000 UTCYes finally. He needs to try harder to bring up the floor of Eluathar. Quantity has its own uses. Not everyone is gonna be a world beater but as long as they have a solid floor of combat ability and utility it exponentially increases their power. It’s probably gonna be backbreaking work tho but I feel like 1 body should have this as his main priority constantly.

2026-02-15 23:18:57 +0000 UTCNot sure if it was commented on in the last 2 chapters, but Nabr can NOT be infected with the eggs/plague? It was said earlier that having only one emerald soul card practically made someone immune, but still a carrier and a ruby soul card completely immune. Or a soulskilled equivalent. Nabr is an ancient elite soldier from a race that managed to kill half the living Guidar at that time before they were defeated. They have kept him alive as an assassin for eons. I imagine he is around a soulskilled equivalent of at least 4-5 soulcards.

2026-02-15 22:39:26 +0000 UTC“That Guidar, Skaudi, destroyed his eyes and ears,” Irwin said with a weary sigh. “He also infected him with those Oculithar spores, which caused him to become close to being addled.” Skaudi -> Slaudi

2026-02-15 20:06:34 +0000 UTCThe Guidar better hope they ain't done to much to Granvox because Irwin is ready to rage out and smash some heads

2026-02-15 19:48:07 +0000 UTCThe thing I would add is that Zeit is indebted to Irwin so It would makes sense for him to ask Irwin what he wants help with, not Daubutim. I would add that to the next chapter before Zeit leaves to make it smoother. Other than that Great chapter!
