Same here 😂 I'm really glad you liked it! That process of piecing together the timeline the first time you watch it is an experience you can't have twice, but where some movies aren't as interesting after you know the trick, I keep coming back to this one because it still gives you so much to think about.

Right?! Oh geez I think I'm already a dad and I don't even have the kids to show for it😂 And yes--probably the best line in the movie. It made my heart hurt. I loved this because I actually had a lot to think about later. I'm really glad they added some humor to it though bc it would have been a rough one without that!

I think it's implied that Teddy is telling him the truth through the quick flashes of it that Leonard keeps briefly seeing through his invented version of reality even before the reveal at the end—for example the shot of Sammy in the wheelchair at the mental hospital that turns into Leonard for just a few frames.

I think the thing I question most about all the questionable information we get in this movie is, who's wife had diabetes? Can we trust Lenny's memory? Can we trust that Teddy was being honest with him?
Seems like the most honest character in the movie is the guy who runs the Discount Inn.

Oh, also 50 First Dates isn't the worst "related' move you could watch after this. It's a Rom/Com that also deals with memory loss (starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore). :P

Is it really shocking how Natalie reacts after seeing Leonard with her boyfriend's clothes? She does use Leonard to get rid of the Dodd problem both her and Jimmy were facing. When he gets back of taking care of Dodd, she sees the tattoos and understands him more. She hopes he remembers her after the kiss and is disappointed that he really doesn't remember her in the restaurant. Hence the pity. She helps him with the license plate because she cares, or at least wants to give back to him for what he did for her.

If Bowie is dad rock then I'll get myself an easy chair and a bathrobe to lounge around in in a heartbeat.
My favorite line from this movie is "How can I heal when I can't feel time", because it feels like the thesis of the whole movie, and it feels like the kernel of an idea that the whole movie could have grown out of. It's an inversion of "Time heals all wounds" where you ask yourself, "What if it didn't?"

Least that's how I remember it.

Can't wait to get this going. Memento is an epic first time viewing.
