No Country for Old Men (2007) ♦Movie Reaction♦ REGULAR VERSION!

Comments

I re-read my own comment and I realized... maybe Chigurh did the wrong thing and broke his own code when he killed the wife who refused to call the coin toss. Just as she had 50% chance to be right then he also had the same 50% chance of being wrong if he killed her of his own accord and did not let fate decide through the coin toss. And so he immediately got into a really bad car accident because of his "unjust" killing, he really should respect his own rules. But I think the movie makes it ambiguous maybe he didn't kill her, there was no evidence except for him checking his boots as he walked out. We didn't see her die but then that was the rule I made up originally that the good people we do not see die. I don't know so maybe his own rules turned around to bite him. It's like superstition and he believed in his version of superstition. Doubt must be in his head that he killed against his own code - and finally, this is the beginning of his end. He will spiral down from here. He will not be able to get it out of his head that he'd done wrong, he has betrayed his own code. Thus his invincible armor has a chink in it, a flaw that will become fatal. This is the wife Carla's revenge. Justice comes.

The parallel between Llewelyn going back with the water and Sugar going back for Carla Jean was really good. I never thought about it

Ezra Solomone

Thank you!

Whimsory

If you liked Woody Harrelson in this, I think you will love his performance in Zombieland.

Always good to see a Whimsory video. The after discussion is the best part. K.L.

After watching your regular version... It strikes me that probably the good guys we don't see them die. Even the first guy strangled, we did not see his final seconds maybe. Woody? Maybe 5% of his body is seen from the back of the chair. Does this make sense? If true we can go back and see who are the good guys. Some of the dialogue talks about who may deserve death and things of fate. We did see innocent people die but maybe in some small way their fate wavered at having done something bad in their past - maybe the camera judges each person onscreen. In the end the wife refused this notion of fate or of rules that some maniac pretends he follows. She is both right and wrong. I wished she could have called the coin toss because that's 50/50 chance... but in her defiance she refused to do so. Maybe she could not see herself surviving in this manner. Also when Llewelyn went back with water... had he not done so maybe he would still have been hunted but he would be less aware. The way it did happen, shot and hunted by dogs he was primed for a real fight and he was better off understanding the situation.

Wow, loved the outro as usual! I'm glad my name showed up at the end, Yay! That makes me happy. So there are funny comments about his hair from the film makers and actors. Along the lines of... they made me look like the worst yearbook picture ever. I don't know I can't remember how they say it. Other actors would praise his performance then they'd say "but that hair!..." haha lol, I can't retell these funny bits.

Mannygogou

Wow! Well done. Loved the poem.

“What a terrifying haircut.” Love it!
