Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) ♦Movie Reaction♦ SHORT VERSION!

After multiple viewings now, I'm starting to think this movie was a secret Seventies effort to convert people to vegetarianism. :) Yes, Hooper and company really did the work on the set design, didn't they? Note to filmmakers: you don't have to show blood-spurting murders if the set and characters generate most of the ickiness. It's one reason ALIEN still holds up, and probably always will.

😺Whim!!! 😺 😺Kitty!!!😺 Previous is the best part! lol So?!? Ya live in movies too! "Navy Seals" (1990) Hawkins (Charlie Sheen) takes a terrorist underwater... OMG!

I'm no psychologist, but I guess that morbid curiosity we have about these kinda movies stems from that "better the devil you know" idea. You feel a little more secure and in control if you familiarize yourself with the things that scare you. That might explain the brief pyromaniac phase I went through when I was 8. It nearly got out of control once though. I set fire to a cardboard box in a small patch of woods next door to our house. The surrounding bushes started catching fire, and I went into a 5-alarm state of PANIC. 🔥😱🔥 I ran back to the house to frantically search for a bucket to fill with water. No bucket.😬 I ran back to check on it, and was SO relieved to see it had burned itself out. WHEW!!! I REALLY thought I had just set the whole neighborhood on fire. I was envisioning everyone in town, chasing me down, ready to skin me alive. 😵 Turns out, scary movies aren't so bad after all. 😂

hello I apologize for disturbing you, I'm the new kid and I like your reactions, I have a lot of films to recommend to you to watch 😁 but above all I also have French films 🇨🇵 to recommend to you if interest you (sorry in advance if you don't understand everything I write because I'm French and I have a lot of difficulty in English 😅)

Stanislas Lefort

Shit happens - she'll get through them all eventually.

Primo horror selection Whimsory! This movie is a great gateway into other gruesome horror movies! If you think about it, this movie is actually really light on the gore. The worst you see is the occasional corpse, but as for blood, there isn’t that much of it. You don’t see the damage caused by the hammer to the two dudes’ heads, you don’t see the meat hook to the back, you don’t see the chainsaw on Franklin or the boyfriend, and you don’t even really see the barber blade to sally’s back at the very end. Like you said, you have a vivid imagination, so your imagination painted in the missing details which I think is brilliant for a movie. I have watched a ton of horror movies. So if you have an idea on what kind of horror movie you want to react to in the future, but need examples, let me know. I would be glad to help!

Amelie got the most votes, she got confused somehow.

Ugh. Gonna have to watch 90s Disney for like a week straight to wash this out! 😂

You don't have to traumatize yourself for our sake Whimsory, but I DO very much enjoy hearing your take on these iconic movies. That was another of those movies that had a lot of buzz, so I was super-curious to see, but too young to get in. I did get to see it at the Jesse Hall Auditorium on Halloween night '78. My first semester at Mizzou. We were walking back to the dorms, after midnight, when some guy kick-started his motorcycle. Everyone SHRIEKED in terror. 😱 It sounded just like Leatherface's chainsaw firing up! 🤣

Oops, it seems another film won your poll. I've never heard of it, but yeah, it'll be better than any gorefest "Exploding Heads Massacre" nonsense.

Jez Smith

I live in Austin where this movie was filmed and I approve this selection 👻

Nicholas Coy

OK. That film was horrid. I think you should cleanse your cinematic palate with the winner of your poll, Amelie (I lived in that area of Paris just a year after they filmed it - was a regular at Amelie's bar!). Then do The Ladykillers, which is a lot funnier and less horrid than its name might suggest.

Jez Smith

Me too! And it turns out...for good reason lol😭

Whimsory

Oh my gosh! You don't do things by halves! I've always shied away from this, because I'm a big wimp.
