Another B&W film of quality is The Big Sleep, a noir thriller with Humphrey Bogart as a private investigator. ( not B&W ) Also another Jimmy Stewart movie when he's a bit older, Hitchcock masterpiece Vertigo. Always good to see you, and your after discussion insights are the icing on the cake. 🤗K.L.

Poor George... He really had to endure TONS of emotional strain. But was rewarded at the end when everyone acknowledged what a self-sacrificing hero he was to the town. Jimmy was GREAT in that kind of role. He got to play that kind of hero in an earlier B&W classic, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". He tries to save MORE than just his home town in that one... he tries to save the whole country! P.S. I was glad to see your eyes well up with HAPPY tears for a change. 🥹👍

Thank you, Whimsory! 🔔 I wasn't so into this when I was younger, but as an adult, it has become an annual tradition. I always get emotional in it, even when watching reacters. I'm grateful to have seen it on the big screen as well, here in Chicago a few years ago. People wore jingle bells around their necks and rang them at specific moments. 🔸 I'm so glad you're now familiar with this timeless tale and cinematic work of art. 💎

Just call him Sam Ringwraith, easier to say

Hopefully THE BISHOP'S WIFE (1947) with Cary Grant will be for next year's "Whims-mas" movie! (Yes, it's b/w and also very uplifting.)

Paul Stelter

Ooooooh I see. Well I won't be calling anyone that one😳 Thanks!

Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🎁🦌🌨🥧😸

"Garlic eaters" was a derogatory term for Italians referring to the use of garlic in their cooking. Presumably many of the residents of Bailey Park were of Italian origin such as Mr. Martini.
