Without "Lord of the Flies" there's no "Yellowjackets"... This also reminds me that "Das Boot" (if folks can handle subtitles) is a must-watch.

Paul Stelter

Another island movie that left a lasting impression was "Lord of the Flies". (1963) Saw that on TV when I was a kid. English school boys find themselves stranded on an island, and quickly devolve into tribal-minded adversaries. A sad illustration of how dangerous groupthink can be. I always get a creepy feeling when I'm around people who seem susceptible to that mentality. You can see their personalities change when they are under that spell. They seem incapable of rational thought at that point. 😬 The Simpsons had a great parody of that movie. "Das Bus" was the episode. 🤣

Even if not hopeful for him being with her, there’s always hope that there will be opportunities for him to be happy in the future. That could be one of a hundred encounters that he can get his chance at happiness.

I remember Tom went on David Letterman's show while he still had the beard, and announced he'd remove it on the show. Started with scissors, then an electric shaver, then they had a pro lather his face and shave him with a blade razor. As I often say, your after discussion is my favorite part. Hope you're doing well. 🤗K.L.

So it wasn't clear to me whether you picked up on this; you probably did but you didn't mention it, but the woman's truck at the end has the same angel wings painted on it as the package had. It's the same woman and she _also_ got him through his time on the island as the sender of the package he's determined to salvage. There seems to be a spark between them, so I always took it as a pretty hopeful ending.

Appreciate the work that goes into this. Great vid and congratulations on your youtube milestone.

I would be curious to see how well I could cope with the challenge of truly being on my own like this... but I think I'll just stick with the challenge of going to Santa Rosa Island. 😅 It's nice to have that bridge back to civilization when you need it. 🏝️ >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTXqskq1t8o

I forgot Helen Hunt was in this. She was great with Jack Nicholson in "As Good as it Gets". Very odd, but funny and relatable rom-com. This one is a much more realistic portrayal of what being stranded on an island would be like. Not as much fun as Gilligan's Island, where everything just magically works out OK. 😅

Thanks, Whimsory! 🏝⚽🩸📦💗

Anyone else wish they could get lost on a private island and just chill there a couple years? Or just the rest of your life. I guess it depends on your survival skills.

James Wood

You too! Thank you😁
