Mythic 5.1 Beta 2 Released

Mythic 5.1's Beta 2 has released. Why a beta 2? Well, there was a lot I wanted to change and improve, and some of these changes involved total overhauls of how these systems worked or how they were balanced.

So, let's get to the information and changes, starting off with the biggest one.


YOU DO NOT NEED TO UPDATE OR MAKE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR CURRENT CHARACTERS.

The only thing you'll need to worry about are possible balance changes to your weapons. Update those, and you're good to go!


This means that Beta 2 is the closest to the full release as we will be getting UNTIL the full release. You're all good to go to start playing and not worrying about any more major changes. 


First Aid has been overhauled and improved, you're able to do more with the Medical Skill in general. There are other Skills, such as Evasion, that have been overhauled alongside it. The rules are cleaner and better state what you can do with the Skills.


Weapons have finished their complete 5.0/5.1 overhauls. Stats, pricing, and more. Covenant weapons got an improved customization system for their weapons that do fall into canonical differences in how patterns would be made for Covenant weapons.


Grenades and other explosives were tweaked. Grenade Launchers now have proper damage values and grenades have been repriced.


Some vehicles removed and updated to their canonical counterparts. There were technical duplicates of some vehicles such as the Military Cabover, which was replaced with the ONI Van.


Shotguns are stronger, if this scares you, complain to the community who wanted even stronger shotguns.


New explosive generation and balancing tools have been made for use with fan-made 100DOS projects and The Armory.


A complete overhaul of how Special Damage works. It's back to the original system of being per-crit/Special damage attack. It no longer works on a scaling, stacking threshold. Each attack gives a special damage effect that will give penalties and drawbacks to the player for a temporary amount of time. Such as death.


Abilities were updated to better fit changes to the system, and to make some abilities that didnt offer many benefits to better give players a useful option.


Snipers were removed from heavy weapon training, so best make sure you swap your training to extreme range training if you use them.


Balance to the ordnance system added to 5.1 to both damage and pricing.


Added back in missing descriptions for figuring Hit Location (found in medical/special damage), action types (half action, full action, etc), and more. These were accidentally overlooked while creating the new book layout.


New rules added in the GM section that give an alternative, faster playstyle. Less dice rolls, quicker resolutions to actions. For a faster game by removing some of the gritty parts of combat.


A handful of new outliers added to character creation.


SO much more, such as new vehicles, new vehicle variants, new weapons and variants, updated attacking rules, and more.
