Please tell us you're doing Ep. 13 and Ep. 15!

TNG excels at grappling with ethical issues, and this episode highlights a dilemma somewhat reminiscent of John Rambo in First Blood (1982). Just like Roga Danar in the TNG episode, Rambo was an elite soldier trained to infiltrate enemy lines and use lethal force to accomplish his mission. In times of war, creating elite teams of highly-trained and lethal soldiers is a logical and practical approach. However, integrating these warriors back into society, once the war is over, is hugely problematic. The elite training can't just be switched off. "Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win." - John Rambo Sadly, society is rarely willing to commit to providing soldiers with the support they need when they return home from war, not only to survive but to thrive. Instead, they are often given token support or ignored. Such behavior is unconscionable. A very thought-provoking episode and a great reaction, Ames! (Although I liked the episode, I think an additional fifteen minutes could have given it greater depth and a more powerful impact.)
