Repository - The Miscellanea Archives
Added 2024-11-10 21:06:08 +0000 UTCWhat is this?
The Miscellanea Archives are the complete archives of the works I published from 2020 to 2021 under the name of Miscellanea Maps.
How do I use these?
Download the archives from the attachments at the bottom of this post.
Extract the archives & find the map(s) you want.
Import them into your VTT (i.e. drag-and-drop into Roll20, import into Foundry's Data directory).
If you have any trouble at all, don't hesitate to message me on Patreon, or else on X (@cyclopeanarts) or by email (click here to contact me). I'll do my best to guide you through anything.
Notes
Quality: I'll freely admit that the quality of the early maps, up until perhaps late 2020, were fluctuating & not up to my modern standards. Furthermore, these files don't always match the quality of the work I put out today. That said, they remain usable, especially the 2021 works, which I remain quite proud of.
Formats: I have gone through & updated all maps to a modern 140ppi JPG format.
The earliest of my maps were published as PNGs, and up until April 2021 all were 100ppi by default. I have stripped the PNGs from this collection due to space concerns.
Themes: Themes vary wildly, from deep-sea temple treasure chambers to a psychotic necromancer's rock concert on a necropolis airship. Many of the 2020 maps are modern or sci-fi in characteristic, as it wasn't until 2021 that I narrowed Miscellanea Maps' scope to fantasy. I drew an awful lot of Pokémon-themed maps.
Remakes & Remasters
I'm steadily working on going through these maps & remastering or remaking them to match my current work in featureset & quality. The remastering process includes:
Producing a full set of WEBP & PDF files;
Producing a Foundry VTT scene with a proper walls & lighting setup;
Uploading them into Moulinette Cloud.
In some cases, I go so far as to redraw the entire map from scratch. I call these remakes to distinguish them.
This process also makes finding & using the maps much easier, since the remakes & remasters can be found on the Cyclopean website. My hope is that eventually, the need for these archives will be totally eliminated! Until then, this repository will remain.
