Chapter 310 - Surging Spirit Art (I)

After remembering as much as I could about the process of healing, I pulled open the system window, finding myself yet again overwhelmed; truthfully, I don't think there will ever come a point where I'm not overwhelmed. With so many options, I think I could spend centuries and come no closer to fully understanding the entire thing.

Regardless, I started from the beginning, choosing the art type and selecting Special Art. Some options immediately got grayed out, some became available, but I kept to the plan. For stances, I actually made it a bit more complex, electing to add 3, as each would be focused on improving one of the three most crucial aspects.

For internal logic, I chose the one that got unlocked when I broke through into the Revolving Core Realm--Law-Integrated. It was double the cost of Profound, standing at 120.

It was annoying as I had already spent 190 points out of 400, and haven't achieved, well, anything.

Moving onto the energy type, I immediately selected a simple combo of 'Vital Blood Qi' and 'Recovery Qi', adding up to another 50 points. But, at least now, the art did something.

For elemental properties, I added a minor infusion to Blood, costing another 30 points, and bringing the total up to 270, leaving me just 130 to push it over the hill.

All 130 remaining points were spent in specific effects and characteristics part rather than unique properties, namely taking 4 Special Art unique options: Rapid Oxygenation, Sensory Healing, Wound Coagulation, and Rapid Cell Replication.

They added up to 115 points, leaving me with 15 extra that I couldn't really spend on anything as there was nothing of note at that value.

As I slowly fiddled around with the order of things, as I realized that also had impact on the final art, I desperately tried to ignore doubts within. Even if it's a dud, it's only 400 points--not even. And the risk is worth it.

And yet, as I came upon the finalizing screen, I... hesitated. Was this really the most optimal approach? There were about 40 different 'Healing' options that I had access to scattered across the creation system, some of which I obviously couldn't afford, but a lot of which sounded more impressive.

I stuck to my premise of taking the existing body structure and just hyper-enabling it, but was that really the best approach? That's the issue with my absurd lack of knowledge when it comes to common sense in this world.

... but I have to trust something, and I choose to trust my own knowledge, wherever it may take me.

[CURRENT CREATION POINTS: 385/400]

[NAME: (Please name the art; otherwise, the system will auto-generate a name upon Art Creation)]

[DESCRIPTION: a remarkably unique art that target's the nature of the body itself to repair it rather than using the external means and methods of most other healing arts. Unlike more traditional methods of manually stitching together broken blood vessels and meridians, or isolating the wounded area from the rest of the body, this art aims to do the exact opposite--use the rest of the body to aggressively overwhelm the wounded, poisoned, or infected area. While it does have its limitations due to its lower tier, it cannot be matched as far as the depth, quality, and even the speed of healing]

[TYPE: Special Art (+25 CP)]

[NUMBER OF FORMS: 3 (+10 CP)]

[ENERGY: Vital Blood Qi (+30 CP), Recovery Qi (+20 CP)]

[...]

[-------]

[CALCULATED COST: 25 + 10 + 30... = 385 CP]

[PROJECTED RANK: peak-Heaven Tier]

[PROJECTED DIFFIUCLTY: ???]

[CONFIRM CREATION: 385 CP]

[CANCEL]

... hmm, the description both inspires and worries. Just because something is different doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Maybe cultivators had already tried this approach and deemed it nowhere near good enough, and then settled into external means of healing.

But worries are for those who can afford them--and I really can't. If Long Tao himself was left in that state, then it means that even the slightest help might be the difference between living and dying in the worst case scenario. What if we don't have an alchemist at the standby with some legendary pill in his pocket to heal us?

Even if the art gives us just 1% extra chance of surviving, then it's worth thousands of points, and not 'just' 400.

Whatever! Just create it!

... oops, I did it again.

Goddammit! How many times is this, now?! My creative juices remain unused due to my stupidity!

[Congratulations, Host, on creating 'Surging Spirit Art']

[Surging Spirit Art]

[Type: Special Art]

[Rank: quasi-Myth Tier]

[Host Comprehension: Minor]

[...]

[Though there were numerous arts focused on body's own healing capabilities, due to the limited understanding of how underlying functions of body work, their effectiveness was equally as limiting, leading most cultivators to believe that the most reliable way of healing the body is either through external means or a special bloodline or physique. However, this art dismantles the notion as it focuses on the underlying mechanics of healing rather than the superfluous understanding. Though far from all-powerful and even outmatched in certain aspects, due to the fact that the only resource it requires is the body itself and some Qi, it will carve its place in history of martial arts]

[Creation Points Value: 385/400]

[Comprehension Difficulty: ???]

[...]

[Creation Bonus: New Major 'Trait' Unlocked; 1x Divine Essence Pill, 1x Minor Realm increase in Cultivation]

[Major Trait Unlocked: Spirit Aura (Epic)]

[Spirit Aura: bearer emits a sonorous aura toward those around him, increasing the natural Qi recovery outside of battle by 200% and while in battle by 60%]

[Divine Essence Pill: coalescence a trace of Divine Essence within one's soul. Will prevent 1 deathly blow, even if it is from an Emperor or an Empress]

[...]

[Congratulations Host on reaching the middle stages of Revolving Core Realm; having reached three revolutions, you reached the First Calling]

[...]

[Bonus Reward Generated: a random, relevant piece of information rooted in the world's history will be reveled to you]

[...]

[The First Shaman: though often cited that the Shamans came about Six Cycles after the first cultivator, the truth is that they both emerged in the Second Cycle of Creation, within 30 years of each other. The First Shaman was a banished member of an Ancient Clan who sought an alternate way of harnessing nature when he chanced upon the Mana Forest, where the Spirits of Shamanism taught him the very first Word: Resilience. The first 'war' between cultivators and shamans happened just sixty years later, when the First Shaman attacked his clan and obliterated them in one night with just four other disciples. Unbeknownst to every other living being, even the Ancient Dragons and the living Emperors and Empresses, the First Shaman is still alive]

... hm?

What did it say?

Forget the fucking rewards, did it just say that the first shaman ever is still fucking alive?!!!

1 or 2 today ?

It just means that he's used 385 out of allowed 400 points to create the art, not that he has 385 points remaining ^^

Something isn't adding up, maybe I'm overlooking it. Chapter 305 started with Lu having "over 3,000 points" and he bought a quest for 1,500 in that same chapter. Chapter 308, he created at art for Rayce that cost 400 points (which he gave to him in 309), leaving him with 1,100 points. In this chapter: "[CURRENT CREATION POINTS: 385/400]" So he only has 400 points? Where did the other 700 go to in between chapter 309 and 310? Do I fail at addition and subtraction? I don't understand why Lu and the System are talking about him only having 400 points when he seems to have 1,100+ ("over" 3,000 in 305, so the over is what the + is...I admit I didn't go digging far enough back to find the last exact total, which I think was after the shadow forest). I like this healing art, specifically because it's automatic and always on. As soon as there's an injury, it's working before the first thought of the injury crosses the cultivator's mind. That'll be helpful in difficult fights, and let them shrug off minor injuries like they're not worth doing anything about. Inherent cultivator toughness will blunt most injuries anyway, so even if this isn't an amazingly strong of a healing art it benefits every step a cultivator takes to become tougher. It'll always have some benefit, since it just makes them better at surviving with no real downsides. Nicely done. That bonus to his Spirit Aura is fantastic. Has the alchemist commented on it yet? If he didn't notice before, he surely will now. Inb4 team cuddle sessions for cultivation lol. No wonder Light sticks to him so closely, and wants shoulder rides from time to time. She's making sure she stays in range! haha "First Shaman is still alive" WOW that's a big revelation. Sounds like modern day shamans have completely lost the path and are just using the barest crumbs of shamanism. Wild and unexpected! Thanks for the chapter!
