You girls are too soft-hearted for these kinds of movies. But you did your duty for your fans. Very good. War seems to be a fact of life for the human race. Such a waste. Keep on rockin

tommylegless

Angels I give you much credit. I came here to watch because I love this movie. But knowing that you are Vietnamese, I could only imagine how hard it was to watch. At least the war half of the movie, usually I shut it off after Sgt. Hartman dies

Brad Szyba

I wish I had more than one heart emoji to send. Sending much love to you Angels. For a comedic anti-war movie by Kubrick, check out Dr. Strangelove: The Day I Learned to Love the Bomb.

The Americans in this movie are Marines in the Marine Corps not Soldiers in the Army. The United States Marine Corps is a branch of the military that serves as the Navy's expeditionary force and emphasizes a warrior ethos with a focus on combat readiness and physical endurance. Marines are often at the front-line of combat in war. There were a lot of men who were drafted into the Army who didn't want to be, but these men chose to be Marines. All Marines are combat ready. That's why joker says he wants to be in the shit. It's what a Marine is trained for.

Very intense reaction for a very intense movie. I enjoyed watching it. The movie really focuses on the what happens when you become a soldier in a war. First they have to train you by tearing you down and rebuilding you as a killer, able to survive the terrible things you will see and probably do when you are sent into fight. Once you are there you dehumanize your opponent so you don't feel the guilt for all the death you cause.

Tien's warface 🥰 so adorable but still furious, looked like a cartoon

I must say, you ladies are brave for watching a movie that hits so close to literal home. It is always sad watching such things, but watching with you ladies and thinking that if things were slightly different, you girls might not be here is heartbreaking. Every death is wasting nearly endless potential if you factor in children that will never be born because of war. Again, great reaction very brave for sharing those insights with us. Go watch something fun now please.

Ah, I can tell this one was a lot more personal for you guys and I'm glad you appreciated the film overall. I mentioned earlier that this, The Shining and A Clockwork Orange are may favorite Kubrick films, and maybe this shows you how powerful his films can be (and btw, Clockwork is amazing, but the first 30 minutes are pretty disturbing so as much as I'd like to see you guys react to it, it might be a little too much).

Just finished watching. Had to watch in two parts. That was intense. I think it is very likely that the world is going to see some very dark things in our time. Harden yourselves as best you can before it comes.

Vogon Poet

If you’re up for more like this you check out Director Oliver Stone’s Vietnam Trilogy: 1. Platoon (1986) 2. Born on the Fourth of July (1989) 3. Heaven & Earth (1993)

Lee Pitman

Great reaction and you two are right. This is a very anti war movie. There were lots of Americans that hated and opposed the Vietnam War. Also Tien was right. That song (Surfin Bird) is in Family Guy in one of the most annoying episodes ever lol.

Looney

If you choose to react to more Vietnam war movies, my top choice would be 'Heaven & Earth' (1993)

This is always a tough watch, but maybe the only better anti-war movie is Grave of Fireflies. On a happier note and something I find amusing, you might have heard "Oh me so horny, me love you long time" in a song. It's by the band 2 LIVE CREW. They are known for VERY sexually explicit lyrics. Their original record label was called Skywalker Records but George Lucas sued them and they had to change it. ahaha. In their song "Me So Horny", they sample the dialogue from Kubrick's film, but the song is not anti-war. It is pro-horniness. You should play the song for Chi and Hella :)

That was an intense reaction, it's very interesting to hear your opinion on the movie and a little bit about your opinion on the war.💜 Your analysis at the end was spot on, you both have such big hearts. I mean, there's a saying that says "Nobody wins in war.". When I saw the movie for the first time, I was way too young to understand it. I even found it boring. It was only later that I really began to appreciate the movie. I once read that most of what the instructor says to the men at the beginning is improvised and not scripted. If that's true, that was a crazy improvisation. I think you confused Joseph Whitman with Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman was a great poet. Yes, Lan Section 8 was when a soldier was found psychologically unfit for war. I'm surprised that Tien is so good at weapons drill, a woman with many talents. Thanks for the reaction ladies, it was a nice surprise.🙂 I've already written about it on Movie munchies, but I have to say it here too. I really missed your reaction video on Tuesday, without your reaction Tuesday evening is not the same.💜

Digitalversager

Rambo is a great movie, but for a more uplifting Stallone movie, watch Rocky.

Steven Roy

I really loved your reaction and your Patreon. Another good movie about the Vietnam War is Platoon directed by Oliver Stone. It's a very hard watch and very sad.

WellRoundedLeo

Fantastic reaction Angels. The entire film was shot in England (Pinewood Studios and Bassingbourn Barracks). Footage of an actual graduation ceremony at Parris Island was used in the film, with an insert from England added to it. For the final battle scenes set in Hue, Stanley Kubrick was able to use the abandoned gasworks town of Beckton on the River Thames. Researchers painstakingly went through dozens of shots of the real Hue in order to make sure Beckton looked authentic, and palm trees were brought into the area to create a tropical effect. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (the drill instructor) was played by R. Lee Ermey. Before working in the movies he actually was a Marine drill instructor. Section 8 was a category of military discharge employed by the United States Armed Forces which was used for service members judged mentally unfit for service.

I'm glad you are watching more films. But, this one is very sad. Don't let anyone convince you to watch Apocalypse Now. it's very popular film. But, it's just a bunch of Vietnamese civilians being killed over and over. Not worth it.

matthew

you guys are mean! Yes, we lost - don't gloat. Also, you did hear that song on Family Guy.

Gregory A Mann

Can you react to (Rambo First Blood) it is also about the effects of the vietnam war on a soldier

Blackwargreymon00

Hope you enjoy the reaction 😇😇

Asian Angels

Heyy. Don't worry. We're okay. We know its just movie. 😇 Thank you though 🥰🥰

Asian Angels

I'm about to start watching. This must have been an upsetting one for you to watch and I hate seeing Angels upset.

Lee Pitman

I haven’t seen this movie yet. I’ve heard great things about it so I’m excited to watch and see how good it is.
