Oh and lethal injections are a horrible death mabye even worse than the electric chair with people not dying imediatly and in extreme pain if they want a human death they should use the guillotine it was desigined to be the most human possible death. But that is America there is no death penalty in my country.

Imperial Mort

Mr Jingles was the real evil mastermind and was trying to take over the world.

This movie makes me cry everytime and this time was no different. It didn't help that you all were crying too. One of the interesting things about the prisoners except for Wild Bill is that we are never told what they did to be on death row. And it doesn't really matter. I've often wondered if King wrote it to show the horror of the death penalty and especially the electric chair's inhumanity. Lan is correct in that the death penalty is usually carried out now by lethal injection. Some states have abolished the death penalty but many others still have it and use it. Now we need to see another comedy reaction to cleanse our soul! LOL. thank you ladies for all of your wonderful reactions and commentary.

Great reaction ladies I really love all of your reactions.

John Coffey was given the initials J.C., the same initials of Jesus Christ, this was intentional by Stephen King, I don't think John Coffey is literally the second coming of Christ but rather King exploring how a christlike figure would be treated as a black man in the 1930's, he has special powers that could be connected to how Danny Torrance (the kid from the Shining) can communicate telepathically, there are a lot of characters in Stephen King books who have similar telepathic or telekinetic powers, other great Stephen King adaptations include The Shawshank Redemption (1994), It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), Doctor Sleep (2019, extended edition is the best version), Misery (1990) and Stand By Me (1986). I love how you've been reacting to Tom Hanks movies recently, he's done so many great films, I will recommend some of my favorites of his; Cloud Atlas (2012) - An epic film spread across 6 timelines, with the same actors playing different characters in each timeline, it can be fun to try and spot which actors play which character in each timeline, a beautiful film that is somehow every genre; drama, comedy, sci-fi, mystery, action, romance, you name it. Captain Phillips (2013) - A tense true story thriller with maybe my favorite Tom Hanks performance Catch Me if You Can (2002) - Another true story (well, sort of), this one is a fun crime caper where Leonardo DiCaprio is a charming con man and Tom Hanks has to catch him, Steven Spielberg directs. Road to Perdition (2002) - An epic gangster drama set in 1930's America, Hanks playing a darker role but still an excellent movie. Philadelphia (1993) - Hanks won an oscar for this emotional legal drama, directed by Jonathan Demme who directed The Silence of the Lambs. There are many more but i'll leave it to my favorites,

Jonathan Kidman

What a great movie! But to be honest, it's so sad that I rarely watch it. My favorite scene is always the one where John heals the prison director wife. When she says she dreamed that they were both wandering through the darkness and found each other there. That scene always gets me.๐Ÿ˜ญ Something that comes with John Coffey's healing abilities, which the movie doesn't convey, is that every time John Coffey heals someone, he feels the person's pain and receives a scar. You've noticed yourself that he has a lot of scars; in the book his whole body is covered in scars. Another great Movie adaptation of a Stephen King book is The Shawshank Redemption. It's a prison drama that does without any supernatural elements. For me one of the best movies of all time, definitely a recommendation. That was a wonderful reaction ladies, I love it.๐Ÿ’œ

It is such a powerful movie isn't it? I thought Lan was going throw her headphones at the Percy and Mr Jingles part. The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, and American History X are 3 movies that I feel that everyone should watch at least once.

Frank Darabont, the director, and Stephen King, the writer of the original book, are a great combination. Three really good films come from this combination: Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist. Frank Darabont is a great writer on his own. He has great range too. He wrote movies like this, but her also wrote A NightMare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, which is such a fun horror movie. As Stephen King wrote Green Mile the novel, and also The Shining, and also the sequel to The Shining, Dr. Sleep, I feel like there is a connection between The Shining World and the powers that John Coffey have. I definitely think you should watch Dr. Sleep at some point. That movie has a great bad "guy".

Louisiana still has the death penalty on the books and have even added methods of execution. Drug companies started refusing to sell the drugs used in lethal injection...... Pretty sure I read about some big bank lady getting sentenced to death in Vietnam.

Manospondylus

When you said "Freedom" after he was able to go to the bathroom it reminded me of Braveheart. That would be a great movie reaction. I think it was on movie munchies earlier this year. But, I'd love to see you react to it here.

This story is always so sad to watch no matter how many times you watch it.
