Full-length Saving Private Ryan

Full-length Saving Private Ryan

It was definitely the best movie for its time. Soon after this Tom hanks went on to help produce the hbo special “band of brothers”. It’s a much deeper dive into the lives of the men in the European theatre. I don’t remember which unit but the characters were based off real people like the other special ”The pacific” I think Tom Hanks had something to do with that too. That special follows a marine unit and a famous war hero who fought the Japanese in the pacific theatre. Tom has a real interest for the military and over the decades has quite a few war cinema under his belt

Oh man great reaction. Loved the discussion at the end especially about Upham who is very polarizing character. Now the next progression from this movie is watching the Band of Brothers mini series that Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks worked together on.

Hey this is not about the movie but i see so many pictures from your stage plays . Any chance we could see a taped performance?

Seannie Herskowitz

This is such a great movie but it's an exhausting one with how intense it is.

I'm guessing from your username that you're German, so I have to consider you the expert.

I have never heard anyone use the word kaputt to describe death. Unless you use it figuratively and say your smartphone is kaputt (broken) and mean dead. But the word is not used for living things.

Digitalversager

Kaputt means broken or destroyed. It depends on how it is said and who is saying "Kaputt" but it can also mean dead.

Now let’s see the angel’s’ view of Damon’s character in “The Departed” lol

The run up the beach was much farther in reality. World War 1 and 2 was my primary focus through much of my childhood. Always got some book or model about it as a present. My focus leaned heavy towards the Eastern front Germany vs Soviet Union and the naval Pacific Theater. Aircraft Carriers, battleships, Zeros and Hellcats. .....Wars of maneuver.

Yes Black Hawk Down is a great movie.

Great movie, one of Spielberg's best works. The first time I watched it, I was a bit fooled. I thought the old man in the beginning was Captain Miller (Tom Hanks). The battle at the beginning of the movie was D-Day, also known as Operation Overlord. If I remember correctly, it was the largest military operation of all time and one of the most important battles in World War II. On that day, the main Allies crossed the English Channel with around 160,000 soldiers and landed in Normandy. That opened the Western Front and was one of the major turning points in World War II. The movie has received a lot of praise, even from veterans who were present at the battle, for its realistic portrayal of the horror and chaos during the battle. The translation of FUBAR is correct, but the soldiers don't use it the way Lan imagines. At the beginning, the soldiers think the order to rescue Ryan is nonsense, and that makes the order FUBAR. You can also use it like this: if your boss at work gives you a pointless task, then that task is FUBAR. It can be used in many ways. Besides KIA, there is also MIA, which means Missing in Action. At the beginning of the movie, James Ryan is MIA, so to speak. The German soldier that Upham saved did not only shot Captain Miller. He was also the one who stabbed the American soldier with the knife while Upham was sitting on the stairs. That's why he let Upham live when he left. In case you didn't recognize it, the actor who plays Jackson the sniper, Barry Pepper, also played one of the guards in The Green Mile. If you want to watch more movies about the Second World War, I would recommend Enemy at the Gate from 2001. The movie is set on the Eastern Front, in the famous Battle of Stalingrad. The movie is about a duel between two snipers. Another recommendation, although not a war movie, is Schindler's List (1993). The movie is probably Steven Spielberg's greatest masterpiece. The movie is about the Holocaust, the darkest part of the Second World War. It's not an easy movie to watch, but 100% worth watching. Steven Spielberg was famous long before Saving Private Ryan, by the way. His first big hit was Jaws (1975), with which he basically invented the modern blockbuster movie. As always, that was an amazing reaction Angels!💜

This was one my favorite movies. So many died for one man just go home to his mom. This was one aspect of the military I liked.
