The sport you saw at the end, with the two men riding horses towards one another, is called jousting, and it really was done during the medieval period of history. One of the interesting things about Game of Thrones is that in many ways it is like a murder mystery or similar story where you have to listen carefully to everything, notice details and try to figure out what is really going on. A big part of that is being careful with what you have seen yourself and what you are only told. And of course, the character's don't know or see everything we do. You're in for a fun journey!
