I was literally thinking the exact same thing. < All Quiet on the Western Front > would be a great follow up to this movie. By contrasting each other and putting things into perspective from the opposing sides. 🎯

For me, 1917, along with All Quiet on the Western Front, is one of the best war movies of recent years. It's interesting how the two movies complement each other by showing the history of the World War 1 from the perspective of the other side. What's really fascinating about 1917 is that the movie manages to create the illusion of being one long take. This creates an incredible tension that draws you in. In reality, there were 34 hidden cuts. The movie deservedly won an Oscar for cinematography for this. It was cute how Ran, at the beginning of the journey, before she saw the horror of the trenches, worried about Schofield's injury and an infection. The movie vividly portrays the brutality of the trenches, and as always, it was probably much worse in reality. I especially have to think about how awful the stench must have been when I see such scenes. The soldiers were probably desensitized to the smell by the third year of the war. But I bet none of us could stand it for even a second. The song is called "The Wayfaring Stranger". It's an old American folk song. I like this version of Johnny Cash the best. His voice perfectly matches the melancholic longing of the song. https://youtu.be/gIlbZAP8ASQ?si=Be9IqJ_Bl4KwIxSF That was a great reaction, as always, Angels.💜

i like these 2 girls Yuri and Ran, good reaction girls :)

Guys please try to listen to what they say instead of talk over! The other two girls are VERY GOOD at waiting for their turn to talk and for gaps in dialogue. Thanks!

Just curious, do you hate all war movies? The best ones really don't glamorize or showcase it as something to be glorified. War is hell. It really sucks that humanity has been fighting each other for centuries. Some movies are meant to reflect that to those of us who are lucky enough not to experience it firsthand, so I have an appreciation for movies like these.

Hi angels! WWI...."The war to end all war"...... Welcome in hell ,angels! 😰 This movie is just one long one-shot movie (funny thing to say in a movie where everyone is shooting 😅). very good concept for a movie on WWI. it really put this stressing feelings of the trench war. we don't have time to breath just as them.... no rest, no time to breath and death can happen anytimes. This isn't a true story. the scenario was based on what the director's grandfather told him about his experience as a messenger on WWI. (I said to tien in her little live yesterday that i'll try to avoid putting depresing things on my comment.... but for you to understand the context of the movie, i think it will not be possible.... sorry in advance. but you'll need this to understand.) Yes ,the trenches really looked like that, in fact, even worse. they have to walk in much more water than that. And yes, the trench of the german were better build and designed thant the english (or french, belgian, canadian and other allied), mostly because the german tried to keep what they already have conquered in france and belgium, while the allies try everything so they could take back their homeland and end the war. Oh my !! They spoke about Thiepval and the sommes battlefield! I got there with school. (it's less than 2h from where i live). they recreated some trench and build a lot of military cemetery and monument to honour the dead. The land is still hilly because of the shell and they're still shell who didn't explode in the ground. (yeah on the movie, the no man's land is way too flat for something who was bombard with shell for months!! I mean yes we have crater but not just like that. the entierity of terrain is hilly and not flat at all) Yuri. we don't have this view on the white flowers and cherry blossoms. I never heard it at least. I thing this is mostly a japanesse point of view (maybe...) for us it's just flowers. very pretty flowers, but not a bad sign. The guy with the turban is from India. the British ruled over India (and others country). each country called their colony to wars in the trench (or in another frontlines). ( around 100 000 vietnamese fought in the french army as colonial troop from the french Indochina.....) The woman is french. Yuri is right saying French and English are on the same team. but you're wrong saying the german wanted to invade france. the "Why" of the war is way moe complicated than that... In short, this what happen when two block of powerfull alliance ( the allies, the french, the english and their dominion, russians , belgian and others against the central power the german, the austro-hungarian empire and italy (but italy switch side quit quick)) is looking at eachother with fear and want to make a quick war to calm the other one down (and add an assasination to begins everythings) but underestimate how powerfull their weapon became... and add a lot of nationalism and colonial rivalry.... and BOOOOMMMM...... Believe me, officer with this mindset of "we must throw everything we had to break the ennemy and win the war" was really common in the beginnigs of the war (even more when they began to try finding way to overcome the trench in 1914-1915....). The sond is "I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger" it was created for the movie. I saw many cover of it in youtube and some ost from the movie. you should find one with the lyrics quite easily.☺️ Yuri, your "bonjour" and "salut" was very cute. you said it very well!👏👏😊 But damn your tear are way too contagious and hard to see...😭You said you like war movie. But i think you have a too much compasion, sensitivty and kindness for it.... each time you fall crying. (I like you angels, it hurts seeing you crying that much so often... you should take a break of it... for your own good. and come back to it later). Anyway thanks for everythings! Have a good day Angels!!

I hate this movie more than I can say. Yes, it is skillfully made and beautifully shot, but it is a collection of every war movie cliche ever put on film. What was this war really like? What are all modern wars really like? Here's a personal take. Two of my ancestors took part in World War 1. The Germans had a routine of firing the occasional mortar shell during the night just to spoil the sleep of allied soldiers. My great uncle was on guard duty one night and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just another casualty of the industrialized killing machine that was the first modern war. He didn't come home. My grandfather was also there. After a year or so he was sent home and discharged from the army. The reason given was that he was 'unlikely to make a good soldier'. That's military speak for someone who thinks for themselves and questions stupid orders. He came home and so I exist and am also unlikely to make a good soldier. Modern war is mass random death delivered at a distance by machines. If you want to see it happening now, just have a look at the Russian war in Ukraine.

Mr Jackpots

the scene where he is running and jumps in the river i one of my favorite shots the lighting change is cool.

Přesně kvůli těm jako si ty se zablokovala sekce komentářů a vůbec se jim nedivím. Můžou si natáčet co chtějí a kdy chtějí bože... Je opravdu těžké si počkat na další kontent??
