WICKED TRAILER - UNCUT

Comments

Loved this at the West End, but cannot wait to watch this and see the incredible Cynthia Erivo belt out one of the most iconic stage musical songs of modern times. She is one of the most amazing singers you'll ever hear on stage.

Yorkshire Yoda

I'm sure the movie will be amazing, the musical is amazing, and the book is even better, as are his other two fairy tale upending books, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and Mirror, Mirror. Maybe someday those will be adapted to the stage.

TJ

This is a great broadway show!! Looking forward to seeing this movie!!

Jera Hanson

I would fly to London to watch Wicked with you all in the movie theatre 😁💜

Matthew Binczek

I've not seen it, sounds exciting

Gina Lipkin

Seen my dad off at the train station now I can enjoy something he would not watch

Gina Lipkin

Saw on Broadway many years ago after reading the book. This looks beautiful 😍

Yes, the books have MUCH more queer content and the world-building is much more vast to include a broad spectrum of characters and identities. I know I talk about the books a lot over on the Discord (come join us if you haven’t already!) but I really can’t recommend them enough. I plan to reread the series before the movie comes out

Charlie

We travelled from way up North to see wicked on the West End and still one of the best experiences I've ever had. I identify so much with Elphaba. So excited for this to finally be out!

Louise Poole 🍂

I tried joining the discord and I could not figure it out. Hopefully someone has recommended the show on that thread. I really think they’d like it.

This is my all-time favourite musical! I have seen it in the West End, and it gave me chills. I can’t wait to take my boys to see it at some point... “Defying Gravity” is such an empowering song, and for me is so relevant to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider (neurodivergent/queer/misunderstood/etc). I absolutely cannot wait for this to come out.

Sam S

If we want to talk about the confirmed queer actors in the movie... Cynthia Erivo - Elphaba J Bailey - Fiyero Bowen Yang - Pfannee

Michael D

Musical is 21 years old - opened on Broadway in 2003 and the West End in 2006. I've had the great privilege of having seen the OBC and the casting of this film and in the hands of Jon M. Chu's direction has me giddy for November. Also along with Bailey, Cynthia Erivo is queer and just this past week gave an amazing speech at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's gala about the parallels of Elphaba/Wicked and the LGBTQ+ community. Worth a look/listen.

I was fortunate enough to see the original Broadway production, and it was honestly a life-changing experience. I’ll never forget it. I was a huge fan of the book already, but the show just elevated the story to a different dimension. Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth were beyond incredible, and the story is so powerful and moving. I really can’t wait for this movie, Cynthia Erivo is a huge fave and I know she’s going to nail it

Charlie

I haven’t seen it either but I’m excited for the movie

This looks good. Love your enthusiasm about it. I have heard about the musical but never watched it myself. Only watched the original 1939 The Wizzard of Oz movie. Cool Jeff Goldblum is in it. The first thing I ever saw with Arianna was the music video for Mika's Popular song, and I love their duet and the Tim Burton esque vibe of it, and now she is in Wicked where the original version of the song is featured. Gonna be cool to watch with you when it comes to this channel at some point.

Sara Nissen

I’ve seen it twice as well!

Charity Rose Elkins

I had full on body chills first time I saw this! I can’t wait!

Michelle Barry

I haven’t seen it either.

Chris Mackenzie

In the book (which is wildly different than the musical), Elphaba is intersex, her "dad" (the governor of Munchkinland in the musical) is bisexual, and Liir, her son with Fiyero, is also bisexual. Maguire has also said Elphaba and Glinda's relationship might have been sexual at one point. Plus it's a musical and that makes it vaguely gay in general.

Scott Friedman

I’m so excited to see this, I’ve seen it on stage twice and hoping to see it a third time this summer. If you like camp, highly highly highly suggest the show Dead Boy Detectives, and it’s queer!!

Crystal Pritchard

Cried at the bway show… I’m sure I will bawl in the movie theatre… this looks so good. But it’s only P1. P2 will be in theatres fall 2025

Shari

I haven’t seen the play but this looks wonderful! Always love seeing a blockbuster movie on Thanksgiving Weekend! Thanks Alex and Josh! New haircut Alex?

Diane Furlong

I'm one of the very few people who has never seen Wicked. This looks exciting!

Chris Metzger

Opened in the West End 2006

Michelle Hopkins

This film is going to be a masterpiece. Definitely gonna be crying 😂😭

Joshy B

This is exciting! Be back in a few minutes to watch
