The diamond auction actually has a subtle double meaning as Porche's last name is "Pachara" and "Pachara" means diamond. So its not just money/ego thing between Kinn and Vegas they are indirectly trying to claim Porsche in that scene."

And I want you to remember that Korn was the want who wanted Porsche on the team and not Kinn. Korn literally just handed Porsche the head body guard position straight out the streets with no training

As Pete explained, he got kidnapped when he was young and has a lot of trauma hence why Kinn is the heir as the middle child. We haven’t met the younger brother, Kim, as yet. Another thing to note is that even though they referred to the main family and the minor family as “two families”, they’re one family. The heads of both are blood brothers. Hope you guys don’t wait too long to watch ep 3. You’re gonna love it!!!

2024-06-30 10:08:30 +0000 UTCWhen watching, there are several things that are typical of Asian BLs, particularly Thai ones, that you see quite often: - all the male main characters are paired with other men. In BLs, it’s more like a reverse of the real world where you end up having a token straight person. There may be Bi or Pan characters, but most relationships depicted unless they are the parents are queer relationships. - the product placements are not ambiguous. You won’t be left going “I wonder if they are sponsored by that” but instead they will blatantly show a brand, product, talk about it’s characteristics in the show. Yes, the bread was a sponsor. There are a handful of products BL fans know really well: Jdent toothpaste, Lactasoy soymilk, Cica face serums, different brands of jelly snacks, drinks and seaweed snacks. - there will be certain acts that we in Western culture have already deemed as NOT OKAY in plots that are written off as romantic or normal like kissing someone asleep or drunk, drunk sex, etc. This is particularly true in older BLs but is falling out of popularity as BLs have gained more Western fans who have disapproved. I will continue to address comments you make when you watch BLs, as I’ve been immersed in them a long time and love to get people interested in the culture and the different amazing stories.

Then I happened upon the beginning of a “live” IG he was doing. They hadn’t started yet and he was just candidly looked straight into the camera as he was figuring out angle and volume. 😳I looked into his sincere eyes, in that masculine face, and 🤯I saw heaven right there🫠 he just has the kind of charisma to make your knees weak. 😊

But as you say, I've come to understand it is enjoyable to the original target audience. When I rewatch the series, it's my cue to go get myself a drink.

They call people of a third gender “Kathoey” which is kinda similar to Native American culture and two spirited individuals. I think their laws are a bit lacking in queer rights but that’s a more recent thing

Even straight Thai shows have a different sense of timing, humor etc. Same with Japanese and Korean. I try to look into each country/culture and adjust my media expectations.

It's common to have either multiple main couples or a main couple and one or two side couples, all of which are queer. Nowadays it's starting to get more common to have like a gay main couple and a side lesbian couple, but that really depends on the series. Also nowadays we are starting to have so much diversity, like just in Thai BL this year we have had our first m/m/m throuple, an asexual and a pansexual character (in different series I mean). It really depends on the reries whether they will talk about sexual and romantic identities and real life issues or if it's escapist fantasyworld where the queerness is shown everywhere but not really discussed. Also it really depends on the series whether it's very cutesy and romantic with only a kiss or two or whether it's very raunchy, with a lot of quite explicit sexual content. And ahh so nice to get my favourite characters in this episode, Tankhun, Vegas, and Pete <3

I would definitely recommend The Eighth Sense and I Feel You Linger in the Air after this.

Also, he's reading a coffee table book about coffee when Porsche brings him a cup. Also, Alex's rant on hot beverages has to be the most British thing I've heard all month. Reminds me of how Americans are about ice cubes... And Pete's lack of pants? I had a roommate who did his daily yoga in the living room naked and I thought it was a similar sort of thing? I'm all for more casually nudity...

Tankhun was kidnapped when he was younger which has made him go the way he is and he refuses to leave the house unless he absolutely has to preferring to stay in his room watching series on the tv. He should really be the next in charge but their dad put Kinn in charge because of the reasons above. Kim doesn’t live in the compound, he went to live his own life away from the family, although he does do the odd job when his dad asks as he has a special talent for dealing with the more ‘dangerous’ people. The minor family consists of the dad and two brothers, Vegas , the oldest and Macau, the youngest. Vegas will hold quite a role in following episodes but we don’t really see much more of Macau. I’m so glad that you’re liking it and watching it with us. No spoliers but things start to pick up in the next episode..

2024-06-27 14:51:52 +0000 UTCYeah,it’s a pretty wild and fascinating story about how all this happened..one factor being Mile remembering Apo for nearly 10 years from seeing him on a catwalk when they were both modelling, way before acting was on Mile’s agenda. He’s described this experience since, in various interviews, and then they bumped into each other at the gym and Mile subsequently went on a mission to get Apo cast as Porsche. And who can blame him? They both talk about this as a combination of an ‘Oh! destiny!’ moment and a ‘Wow! He’s so handsome! What can I do to make this happen?’ moment. Since KinnPorsche, they have gone on to make a Thai historical drama together, the sequel to which is pending, as well as becoming arguably one of the most powerful and influential couples in Thailand, if nor Asia.

Rather you could say queerness is normalized in BL and having multiple men who likes men is the norm for this genre, but certainly not every case!

2024-06-27 13:41:43 +0000 UTCOk so you guys are really viewing this through a western lens. In asian BL being gay is very normalised, seriously you are usually in the minority if you are straight. They also don't often have a full on statement from characters about their identity it usually just is. Caveat that this does depend on the show and country but in the case of KP it is a very queer show in regards to most of its characters. I'm so pumped for you to explore more of this genre. Also I gotta tell you about the insanity that was the production of this show. First thing to know is that Kinn's actor Mile is insanely rich, like comes from one of the wealthiest families in Thailand rich. And Kinnporsche the show is based off books where the character of Kinn is kinda based off Mile (Millionaire playboy) in real life. So apparently one day Mile is bored and curious about acting, and when you're rich I guess you decide hey i'm gonna audition for a show that is basically a gay mafia fanfic of my life. So he of course gets the role and then like hand picks Apo to be Porsche cause he met him 10 years ago in college and thought he was hot (Even though Apo didn't really want to get back into acting cause he had bad experiences in the industry and was living in the US at the time). And then the show gets dropped because of budget reasons. So then Mile buys the rights and with a buddy of his turns Be On Cloud, which was some tiny talent agency, into a whole production studio and throws money to get the best acting coaches and film production people money can buy. They recast a few parts and start from scratch. Basically he runs the whole show like a crazy passion project spearheading decisions with Apo at his side. All the while doing this during a pandemic. Like...he is a millionaire and instead of buying his 10th mansion this man decided to make a gay mafia fanfiction TV show of his life. I'm leaving stuff out but if you look into everything its pretty crazy.

2024-06-27 12:34:21 +0000 UTCYes it's gonna get really questionable and dark at times, and I hope Patreon doesn't give you problems for some of the NC scenes(since most people wanted you to watch the La Forte version), because I think, I read somewhere that for certain stuff the channel has to be marked as 18+, but we'll see, when we get there. And yes in thai Aunt and Uncle can also be used as a term of endearment or sign of respect often for someone older than you. And many BLs have product placement, some more subtle than others 😆
