If your request fits into one of the given categories, you automatically get knocked up five dollars to the next available tier. With the maximum being 30 dollars, since that upgrade would be twenty dollars and there's already a prospective discount on the fifty dollar tier.
So if you're in the 20 dollar tier, and you request a Charlie's Angels fanfic, you automatically get the equivalent of a 25-dollar reward fic, with a 2000 word story instead of a 1750 one.
