Still on my bullshit with this erotica publishing
Added 2019-10-09 19:00:00 +0000 UTCI'm priming the pump with some short stories, working my way up to more ambitious things, and I think this Spider-Man type story could really take off. Don't know if I mentioned this, but I started off with this Batman/Catwoman kinda status quo of "okay, they're in love, but they're on opposite sides of the law, GO!" Then I figured I'd better go back and set that up, so I came up with a story about them falling in love. Then I figured I'd better go back and set that up, so I came up with an origin story about their first meeting.
One good thing about this current Tom Holland/uwu/I'm a thirty little flower incarnation of Spider-Man is that it's easy for me to set my story apart from that by leaning towards the rougher edges. Not going full Mark Millar and making the guy a jackass (dude even has a no-kill policy, so I am definitely not being DCEU about this), but just--Captain America, Superman, they go "There's no need to resort to violence! Let's talk this out! I hate going into battle!" And Spider-Man is famously for insulting people to their face as he beats them up. He goes out looking for people committing crimes, breaks their face, and does it while saying "NIce jacket, bitch! Goes well with that broken nose!"
Let's face it. The guy's got a mean streak. And I think that makes him a better match for our Felicia proxy, because he can return fire with her flirtations quite easily instead of just stammering and getting a hard-on. Plus, Felicia herself has got a screw loose. To be realistic a moment (OH NO!), anyone that looks like that could get a job at any modeling agency in the world. Instead, she's breaking into places, stealing shit, humping anyone with a big dick or a D-cup bra. So it makes sense that they'd both have a wicked sense of humor, a bitter and cynical viewpoint, and otherwise be a good match personally, despite being on opposite sides of the law.
I also had the fun idea, at least to me, of borrowing from other genres to make this specific superhero story. Like giving our Spider-Man expy a bit of Death Wish, vigilante man business, since that's what he technically IS, even if he doesn't kill people. And giving Felicia something of the Saint's 'gentleman thief' archetype, complete with pranking the detective dogging her heels--only the detective happens to be a superhero. And the two of them are both assholes who find themselves liking one another's brand of assholery.
