Raised By Wolves update
Added 2022-12-20 02:00:02 +0000 UTCBetsy had pulled this duty long enough to know that the first week of camp was the hardest. There were bound to be feelings of homesickness among the girls—friction as they sorted out their new circumstances. But this thing with Jubilee seemed like something else. Betsy wished she could put her finger on it, so she could satisfy her curiosity as much as help the girl.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Monet, she wondered, her eyes going to the girl’s face. Like a picture of innocence, Monet seemed absorbed in the pile of rattan that would become her basket work.
Being a telepath, Betsy had expert knowledge of the actual thoughts behind people’s actions and socializing, even when she wasn’t reading minds. It seemed to her that Jubilee had been going to great lengths to steer clear of Monet. Her eyes shied away from the very direction of the dark-hued girl and although she spoke freely with the rest of the girls, she never responded to a remark Monet made.
Just an argument from earlier? Maybe. Friction and homesickness could put everyone on edge. But even if it was as petty as that, Betsy had to do something about it. She didn’t want this to develop into a feud over the summer.
