G5 is underway!!!! Love this a lot more than I expected as I sort of love this new fresh start and where the ponies we have come to know are but a distant folktale much like the pillars from G4. Solid start!!

2025-01-25 06:10:01 +0000 UTCHonestly I love this movie so much it’s so rewatchable as well, it’s so good and fun, I love the messages it has a lot of important political elements discussing racism, fear and division, diversity and inclusion, the rise of fascism with sprout taking over maretime bay turning it into a dictatorship, also I love the characters, Izzy and sunny definitely the stars of the show Izzy being like pinkie I love her so much lol, also I agree pipp and Zipp definitely needed more screen time but I still really loved them, loving the new designs the ponies are very cute also notice pipp is the shortest and smallest lots of memes about how short and cute she is, 3D is a bold choice but this movie makes it look so beautiful I personally love it, there’s a lot to explore, oh and the music was amazing as usually for mlp, also as usual friendship is magic! they needed to be brought together instead of the crystals, also this got really great reviews by critics and fans very well received with hope for g5! also it wasn’t in theaters due to Covid I think so it was a Netflix release, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

And I think the reason I sort of like this start is because it sort of resets MLP and also makes G4 a folklore or like it didn’t happen. So it feels prepubescent in a good way. It also makes the continuity issues not issues since this would be their first time tackling all of these issues and discoveries. I think the displeasure or things we already know as facts gets in the way of them just restarting. But I say this as someone who is just entering this. And happy birthday! An extra gift maybe coming Friday 😉🤔 And yes going too fast definitely can seem like an issue as it also didn’t allow us to go very into Zip/Pip and the closing moments of this

That was unexpectedly fast... To see the Mane 6 at the beginning was way too surprising... but it turns out it was just the imagination of some young ponies, playing with the G4 figurines... So much discrimination between Earth, Pegasi and Unicorns... where did we hear that before? Argyle Starshine, Sunnys father is studying history and had a lot of artifacts from G4, which is quite surprising - and it is indeed implied that a lot of time passed since G4 occured... No not Sunsets cutie mark, its Celestia's 😅 One of the best Characters Argyle indeed passed away 😥 The segregation is real... Phyllis Cloverleaf created a whole (weapon) industry around the fear of the other races with propaganda and shit in Maretime Bay... - sounds... familiar? 😅 Even declaring himself as emperor... Izzy Moonbow is such a bubbly happy character it's contagious (and in a way similar to Pinkie). She is from Bridlewood which is occupied by Unicorns... But the Unicorns have no magic as it disappeared someday... Strange, huh? The jokes in this movie are great! Unicorns are very esoteric and superstitious it seems... Zephyr Heights is another place/City inhabited by Pegasi and a magnificent one at that... We meet Zipp Storm, A Pegasus and the adventurous older sister of Pipp. That tennis-ball as a Unicorn-shield was hilarious and subject to a lot of memes... Pip Petals, A Pegasus known for her glamorous and social media-savvy personality. This time we have another friendly queen, Queen Haven! Hasbro got over their fear of queens it seems 😏 I like how the setting this time is overall very modern with Cellphones etc. as the have no magic to use like it was in G4. And Pegasi can't fly... as there is no magic... so Pegasi need magic to lift up, but are still able to glide down. So many hints of G4's past... The station, the mural, the crystals - the possibilities are endless... "Fit Right In" is soooo goood especially when Izzy is doing the rap part... this absolutely reminds us of Pinkie... Alphabittle... a tea house owner and player who bets on things... Just Prance... a hint to Just Dance 😅 Mayonnaise! 🤣 Sunny trying to do good but it all didn't work out until the last moment when disaster strikes... ... and the Lighthouse is destroyed in the process... They raised our hopes 3 times! just to destroy it 😅 Meanwhile Sprout took over Maretime Bay... and induces them to get on arms against pegasi and unicorns declaring himself to be the emperor and wanting to attack the other tribes with a robot horse tank thingie? Well whatever that abomination was... All three leaders needed a reminder that distrust only leads to chaos which sprout greatly has shown... The three crystals need a catalyst, true understanding and friendship... And Sunny turns into an Alicorn..? The new Mane 5 are here! There are so much references throughout the movie especially to G4... Here is a good video showing most of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIG1kCi--Mk --- I love the new Mane 5, and yes, these kind of resemble the Mane 6 in G4 but not in it's entirety: Sunny Starscout resembles Twilight Sparkle in many ways: Both are optimistic, driven, and focused on uniting others. Sunny mirrors Twilight's role as the leader and central figure of their respective groups. They share a strong passion for history, learning, and spreading harmony. And yes, Sunny Starscout's VA is indeed Vanessa Hudgens. Izzy Moonbow is reminiscent of a less hyperactive Pinkie Pie (without the fourth-wall-breaking powers): Izzy's bubbly, quirky, and creative personality makes her a clear parallel to Pinkie Pie. Both bring humor and joy to their friends while thinking outside the box. They also share a knack for being delightfully unpredictable. Izzy Moonbow's VA is Kimiko Glenn. Princess Pipp Petals shares similarities with Rarity, with a touch of Pinkie Pie: Pipp's love for glamor, fashion, and performing aligns her with Rarity, but her status as a social media influencer gives her a modern twist on Rarity's creative flair. Pipp's cheerful and playful side is also slightly reminiscent of Pinkie Pie. Pipp Petals's VA is Sofia Carson. Princess Zipp Storm bears a strong resemblance to Rainbow Dash: Zipp is an adventurous and athletic pegasus who values honesty and individuality, much like Rainbow Dash. Both give a tomboyish feel and share a love for flying and freedom. However, Zipp seems to be more thoughtful and introspective than Rainbow. Zipp Storm's VA is Liza Koshy. And lastly Sheriff Hitch Trailblazer who combines traits of Fluttershy and Applejack: Hitch's connection with animals and his caring, responsible demeanor reflect Fluttershy, while his sense of duty and grounded nature evoke Applejack. Unlike either, Hitch adds a comedic and protective sheriff vibe. Hitch Trailblazer's VA is James Marsden. He is also the first guy main-character of MLP, which is unexpected... --- The movie was great it has a lot of impications about what happened between G4 and G5 and a legacy that was left behind in form of folklore and tales, aswell as a lot of unanswered questions, especially in regards to why the magic loss even happened. The setting was also intriguing as it was seemingly way in the future after G4 ended - Which is also a sad thing, because this would mean, that Twilight's reign was stopped sometime somehow... And yes you are right, in G4 Twilight was the one that had to be convinced to appreciate friendship, while in G5 Sunny had to convince a whole population that was segregated and fearful of each other tribes to give it a chance - It was a great change of concept... Another interesting point is, that Sunny kind of got to be an alicorn, maybe one of the first since a looong time..? The end-scene had another implication as the only hoofprints that glew up were the ones of the earth-pony filly... now what might that mean? The 3D animation was interesting, but as we were somewhat treated to good 3D fandom animations of G4 characters it was better handlebar and easier to getting used to it. The music however in this movie is sooo good! These are more modern pop-song related than it was in G4 and definitely a bop. My favourite ones are "Glowin' Up" and "Fit Right In". The ending was fast, however this movie was meant to be the starter to the G5 series, which goes more into detail about things... but you might see that for yourself then. But we need to tell you something before you do. - That said, "Hoof to Heart"!

2025-01-15 22:47:47 +0000 UTCOverall I like this movie, but it feels like the conflicts of the story should've been executed on a deeper level. The relationship between earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns was established to be seriously shattered, but the problem was solved too fast for something that lasted for lots of decades. Maybe it would be easier to understand everyone's side better and subsequently find the key to piece if we knew why they hated each other so much, but the movie didn't even bother to explain how that separation started and why everything came to that state. Ponies just accepted each other like previously there wasn't any big hatred at all. As for a straight connection to G4. I really don't think that G5 needed this, as it immediately restricts new writers to stick to the canon of G4. As a consequence we got a lot of plot holes (or just unanswered questions). For example we know that the unicorn magic is required to raise the sun and the moon, but who did it if all the magic disappeared? What happened to the cutie map? Where are the Windigos? And considering that almost everything that happened in G4 doesn't matter in G5 and all the achievements of the main six were essentially erased, it makes me think that G5 should've taken place in a new universe.
