Copaganda 12: We Own This City

David Simon returned to Baltimore in 2022 with another TV show critical of the police. What are his critiques and what are his solutions? And what the hell is a consent decree??

Copaganda 12: We Own This City

10/10 your sexiest video so far. Seriously, it’s incredible. I know I say it about literally every video you make, but it’s always true, and you somehow always manage to just get better and better. Thank you thank you thank you for the remarkable and important work you do, and for giving all of us the benefit of your big, sexy brain. (Sorry for the delay in watching, I rewatch whatever you’re covering whenever possible, and I didn’t start this one until the video came out. I saw it when it aired, but I had a hard time getting through it the second time. It’s good, it’s everything I usually like in a show, and its got Wunmi Mosaku. It’s just so frustratingly close to getting it but falls so short. Well, you know, you made a whole video about it. Your Copaganda series has truly ruined my ability to enjoy media about police, and honestly, it’s a good thing, and I thank you for it.)

The Bog Queen

Continue to be proud that both you and KT Tunstall are the first creators I funded on Patreon. (Even if my end credit on every one of your eps. is underneath "Pile of Garbage" -- I know that's not a diss, it's just alphabetical.) So much great work in Copaganda 12... journalism even (☉_☉)! Other than buying one-time use dildos from Adam & Eve, or imagining consent decrees written in Jon Bernthal's pec sweat, I'd welcome less temporary solutions to policing in your next essay. Are there any pieces of media that imagine achievable peacemaking processes without police as we know them? I can't think of any off-hand. Usually, cop-free utopias found in movies like 1993's "Demolition Man" ultimately try to reinforce how miserable we'd be without police brutality and rule-breaking. Looking forward to the next video, as always. Sincerely, Your patron under Pile of Garbage P.S. That random consent decree "Fifty Shades of Grey" callback ended me lol.
