About statues and why Pyramid Head (Pt 1)

Why the hell am I writing this? It's hard to say. Probably just to take a little break from some thoughts and work.

Feel free to skip this nonsense. But if you're just bored or curious then read it.

Also, one of my old friends is pestering me again with the idea of another interview about my creativity. Don't want. Well, I don't like this at all. So don't be offended, but this time

I'll write everything myself :)

OK. After the release of the Pyramid Head statue, many people asked in personal correspondence me why this particular character? What does it have to do with Skyrim and what will happen next Lightsabers and Darth Vader? This is not a complaint. It's a funny question don't worry, is jus a jokes.

Ideas... Damn. This is like infection. They get into your head and buzz around with the intrusiveness of a mosquito until you slap him.

Why statues?

I love sculpture. I especially admire the works of the Renaissance masters. I also really love Skyrim. Just walking along it. Wandering around without any particular purpose and making some bullshit. There's only one thing in this cold tundra that has always irritated me - statues. Primitive and monotonous. No, I'm not hinting at any genius in my works but damn, 3D modeling masters could make them much more beautiful...

So I thought, why don’t I do what I want myself. This is one of the main values Skyrim is the opportunity to create what you want. But just making things out of thin air is stupid.

Therefore, in the end I came up with the idea of a certain mysterious Daedra Lady Trix and a mysterious master who wanders around Skyrim and, under the guidance of Trix, creates some strange and sometimes wild creations. Story about these two characters will be told, but later. It takes time.

All my statues are not just statues. I don't do art for art's sake. Yes sometimes I do just dummy things, but most often my works contain some idea, a hint of something or a reference to something. Something I'm thinking about. Pyramid Head and Gladiatress are good examples to explain.

Pyramid Head

Where did this idea come from? Why is he in Skyrim?

1. When I was wandering around Skyrim in search of a place for the Gladiatress, I accidentally wandered into the Yngvild mound and I remembered the Arondil quest. And then I remembered the remake of Silent Hill 2. At its core, this quest has many similarities with the Pyramid Head and mannequins (not with the plot of the game, but with ideas of monsters): a monster seeking sexual pleasures with humanoid dolls. Arondil is a sexual maniac and serial killer personifying perverted sexual desire. Pyramid Head and most others monsters in Silent Hill 2 are also direct references to repressed and perverted sexuality.

2. Halloween. Making a witch or pumpkins is traditional but banal. I wanted to do something special and unusual.

3. I have been asked more than once to make this particular character. Especially his helmet and weapons.

4. Symbolism. I work with sexually oriented content and the LL website exists for this content, and the mannequins and Pyramid Head is a direct reference to issues of sexuality.

5. Mannequin. This is a very interesting monster in terms of technical implementation. In addition, it combines wildness (shocks perception) grace and sexuality.

6. I really love the Silent Hill universe. This is a very interesting idea with a deep and multifaceted meaning.

That's how this statue came to be. Lots of references, symbolism and interesting technical challenges. Not just a dummy thing.
