Chapter 12

"Wuwuwuwu~!"

As soon as Serafall saw Shoyo, her eyes brimmed with tears, widened dramatically in a display that was both pitiful and oddly enchanting. The charm of the magical girl, no, the Maou girl, was terrifyingly powerful.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing Serafall in such a state, Shoyo already had a good idea of what she was going to say.

"Sho... Sho-kun... Sona-chan~~~ Sona-chan doesn’t want me anymore~~~!"

Serafall clung to Shoyo’s thigh, throwing away all Maou-like dignity. Feeling a slight discomfort, Shoyo simply nodded in silence. Yeah, I knew it would be something like this.

"Sona-chan said~~~ she doesn’t like her Onee-sama clinging to her anymore~~ and she kicked me out, Sho-kun~~~"

Serafall’s black hair was styled into playful pigtails. Her fair face was full of grievance, her small nose crinkled slightly above her pouting lips, clearly expressing dissatisfaction. Her eyes sparkled like stars, though a flicker of cunning passed through them when Shoyo wasn’t looking.

"Hi hi hi~ I understand. If Serafall-san doesn't mind, please stay at my house tonight," Shoyo said with a faint smile. He already knew this was her real reason for coming. Even if he hadn’t offered, she would have asked.

"Un un!~~ Thank you, Sho-kun! Sho-kun is so kind~~~"

Serafall lifted her head from his thigh, looking up at him with sparkling, starry eyes.

"Hmm, come in first. You can rest if there's nothing else."

Shoyo led her into his small villa. He wasn’t worried about his parents misunderstanding the situation, because they had passed away in a car accident two years ago.

"Un un!~~ Thank you, Sho-kun~~"

Serafall showed no trace of the grandeur expected of a Maou. Or rather, none of the current Four Great Satans of the Underworld behaved like actual Maou. They all seemed more like friendly, approachable people.

"This is tea. Please have some."

Shoyo placed two cups of hot tea on the table.

"Ohh!~~ Is this a unique drink from this country?"

Serafall treated it like a rare treasure, carefully holding the cup in both hands.

"That’s right."

Shoyo nodded. Stupid woman, do you know you interrupted my studying? If I could beat you, I’d pin you on the sofa and spank you right now.

"By the way~ I heard Sho-kun joined Sona-chan’s student council? But I thought only members of her peerage were allowed to join. So how did Sho-kun get in?"

Serafall had no intention of resting. Although Sona really had kicked her out, it wasn’t like she had no other place to stay. As a high-ranking devil, Serafall had countless properties in the human world. Coming here to Shoyo’s house clearly had an ulterior motive.

And Shoyo had realized that the moment he saw her. That’s why he didn’t like Serafall very much. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the strength to confront her directly yet, so he had no choice but to let her in.

"Nothing much. Just played a game of chess with Sona."

"Ohh!~~ So Sho-kun won against Sona in chess, all by himself?"

Serafall looked genuinely impressed. She truly admired him, after all, she had never seen Sona lose a game since childhood. Sona’s own fiancé had been brought to tears by her brilliant strategies and had even dissolved the engagement afterward.

"Hmm, that’s right."

"So... Sho-kun’s analytical skills must be incredible, huh? No wonder Sona-chan went to Ajuka-sama to request that thing... Oh!~~ By the way, did you open it?"

"I’ve used it a bit. I’m grateful to the President."

Shoyo knew Sona had gotten it for him, though he wasn’t sure what she had paid for it.

"Yeah, you should work hard for Sona-chan, okay? She made a promise as the next head of the Sitri family for your sake, you know!"

Serafall placed her magic wand on the sofa beside her.

"Hmm?"

Shoyo narrowed his eyes slightly. So she came here to win me over... or rather, play the emotional card... no, warn me.

"That’s already the biggest bargaining chip Sona can offer right now. After all, she’s only the next head of the Sitri family. A promise like that could lead the family to make dangerous decisions in the future."

Serafall waved her hand, but her pink eyes gleamed with seriousness. In truth... even that hadn’t been enough. When Ajuka informed her older sister about the matter, she had paid a price as well to secure Ajuka’s support.

"I’ll remember Sona’s help for the rest of my life. If she ever needs me, I’ll act without hesitation."

Shoyo's tone was firm. He was a sentimental person, he repaid kindness many times over. Sona had shown him both kindness and intention. Despite the area being full of stray devils and fallen angels, he hadn’t encountered a single one. That wasn’t just thanks to his calculations, Sona had clearly been protecting him from the shadows.

Sona Sitri… was good to him. And he would remember that forever.

"So~ how about becoming Sona-chan’s peerage member? Not only would you gain a lifespan of ten thousand years, but you could also grow stronger, yo~!"

Serafall’s eyes sparkled with excitement. This was the real reason she had come! She didn’t care what Sona said about not disturbing Shoyo, or the orders to return to the Underworld. After receiving such a favor, you are Sona-chan’s man for life!

"Become Sona’s peerage member? That means... becoming a devil?"

Shoyo narrowed his eyes. So she was finally showing her true purpose.

"Hmm, that’s right, yo~! Just think about it: ten thousand years of life, a chance to stay with Sona-chan forever, and maybe even some territory! The Sitri family still owns land, about the size of a small country!"

Serafall puffed out her chest proudly. For humans like you, Sona-chan is a princess. Maybe even a queen, someday!

As a Maou, Serafall had changed her surname to Leviathan, and so couldn’t inherit Sitri territory herself.

"No, not for now. I don’t plan to give up my humanity."

Shoyo smiled faintly. Territory? With strength, what couldn’t I have? If I had the power of the Infinite Dragon God or Red Dragon Emperor, the whole world could be mine, and who would dare object?

"Eh?!~~ Why not? Sona-chan did so much for you!"

"I’ll always remember her kindness. If she needs me, I’ll definitely be there."

He gave his promise again, seriously.

"You still don’t want to become her peerage? Even after everything Sona did for you?!"

Serafall stared into his eyes, starting to doubt Sona’s judgment.

"I want to repay her. I just don’t want to become a devil."

"Also... this magic wand’s not bad."

"Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Serafall glanced over, but Shoyo wasn’t there.

"Hmm??!!~"

She turned her head, he was already at her side?! Playing with her magic wand?!

"I’m just saying... if I want to run, no one can stop me."

Shoyo looked at her with a calm smile. "Serafall, you definitely wouldn’t want to force me to stand against Sona-chan, right?"

"....................."

Serafall stared at him quietly. With all her Maou-level strength... she hadn’t noticed when he moved beside her?!

"Oh, and if you want this crystal ball back, I’ll return it to you tomorrow," Shoyo added casually.
